COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Belgian-style White made with dried organic orange slices, fresh cut lemongrass and a bit of coriander. This beer will be a great summer quencher. Namaste was brewed with Leo from Birra del Borgo in Italy as a tribute to our friends at 3 Fonteinen brewery in Belgium, who recently had devastating production loss (1/3 of their annual production!) at their brewery

Pours a hazy gold, with a two finger foamy head. Tons of lemon aroma and some orange. Lots of citrus as well. Very smooth and refreshing the whole way down. Light bodied but balanced. Coriander on the back end, citrus and orange up front.

Pours a light golden color with white head. Aromas of citrus: lemons, oranges. Taste is semi-sweet, with some hay/grassy notes. Some banana flavors as well. Overall, light and refreshing, nice lemony taste. Well done.

Dogfish Head Namaste, like all their other brews, comes to us with a little hype and a little catch. Dogfish has had some trouble supplying all the markets lately, so quantities are again pretty limited. Described on the website as a Belgian-style White, made with orange slices, lemongrass, and coriander, the Namaste is sure to be interesting. The Namaste pours into my Duvel glass a light yellow/golden color, and very hazy. It’s not completely opaque, but about as opaque as I’ve seen an American made White. The head is nice and thick, lots of carbonation makes for a soft, fluffy, one-inch foam. Aromas fill my nose with light citrus notes, the lemon and orange is fairly evident. It doesn’t smell nearly as full or spicy as I expected though. I’m not really getting any coriander, but there is a distinct yeasty layer to it. Overall the aromas are very soft, but definitely a bit interesting. Once I take a sip, wow is that tasty! Very smooth and refreshing, yet complex and interesting at the same time. Just a tiny bit of hops shows through the light citrus wheat beer. Very creamy mouth feel, very subtle nuance of the yeasty citrus beer. I think many of the American imitations in the Belgian White style fall short of greatness. Several brand names come to mind, eh-hem Blue Moon, that are just mediocre representations of really great styles. The Dogfish Head Namaste doesn’t fall into that category. Refreshing and smooth, yet fairly full and complex. This is one of the best American imitations I’ve seen.

Slightly hazy light yellow pour with fluffy white head. Citrusy aroma with coriander and wheat coming through. Taste is nice and crisp with lemon, coriander, wheat and some orange peel. Nice carbonation and a slightly dry finish. Top notch for this style.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2012 Very cooling, sweet, yeasty. Lots of peach, grainy. Delicious, very easy drinking. Fluffy, wet. No alcohol taste. Treate: Very light in color, aroma and texture. Slight sour lime or lemon, and a little bit of a honey taste. Flavor is akin to the air in a large meadow, light, sweet, and crisp. Body is really thin, bit not in a bad way, just thin.

750 mL bottle. Pours a hazy golden yellow with moderate white head. The head recedes quickly with little lacing. Aroma consists mostly of spiciness and some orange; the coriander comes through strongly. The aroma is a bit more pleasing than the taste. The wheat, coriander, and orange come through in the flavor, but the beer has an overwhelmingly watery taste to it. The beer is very drinkable, but there isn’t much flavor here. I think there are betters wits that pack more of punch than this one does.
