COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Belgian-style White made with dried organic orange slices, fresh cut lemongrass and a bit of coriander. This beer will be a great summer quencher. Namaste was brewed with Leo from Birra del Borgo in Italy as a tribute to our friends at 3 Fonteinen brewery in Belgium, who recently had devastating production loss (1/3 of their annual production!) at their brewery

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 2012 C. Pours very hazy golden amber color with a nice 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice soapy lacing clings to the glass, with a fair amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of big lemon, orange peel, clove, pepper, herbal, coriander, wheat, earth, grass, and yeast spiciness. Very nice and well balanced aromas with good complexity. Very pleasant and enjoyable. Taste of lemon, orange zest, clove, grass, pepper, coriander, wheat, earth, and yeast spices. Light wheat tang on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, coriander, wheat, clove, pepper, grass, earth, and yeast spices on the finish for a short bit. Fairly dry on the finish as expected. Nice flavor balance and complexity; with a nice level of flavors. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a slightly slick, crisp, and prickly mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with pretty much zero warming noticed at all. Overall this is simply just an excellent witbier. Great flavor balance and complexity; and extremely smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

This one was one of Beth and I’s favorite new beer we tried. The aroma was earthy and herby and STRONG lemon. Cloudy yellow, golden color with a white head. The taste was complex. Strong lemon flavor with the orange zest hint. The lemongrass and coriander are aparent with some other herbs, couldn’t quite pick them out. So good we bought two ;-).

Dogfish Head Namaste, like all their other brews, comes to us with a little hype and a little catch. Dogfish has had some trouble supplying all the markets lately, so quantities are again pretty limited. Described on the website as a Belgian-style White, made with orange slices, lemongrass, and coriander, the Namaste is sure to be interesting. The Namaste pours into my Duvel glass a light yellow/golden color, and very hazy. It’s not completely opaque, but about as opaque as I’ve seen an American made White. The head is nice and thick, lots of carbonation makes for a soft, fluffy, one-inch foam. Aromas fill my nose with light citrus notes, the lemon and orange is fairly evident. It doesn’t smell nearly as full or spicy as I expected though. I’m not really getting any coriander, but there is a distinct yeasty layer to it. Overall the aromas are very soft, but definitely a bit interesting. Once I take a sip, wow is that tasty! Very smooth and refreshing, yet complex and interesting at the same time. Just a tiny bit of hops shows through the light citrus wheat beer. Very creamy mouth feel, very subtle nuance of the yeasty citrus beer. I think many of the American imitations in the Belgian White style fall short of greatness. Several brand names come to mind, eh-hem Blue Moon, that are just mediocre representations of really great styles. The Dogfish Head Namaste doesn’t fall into that category. Refreshing and smooth, yet fairly full and complex. This is one of the best American imitations I’ve seen.

Lovely phenolics hit the nose from the yeast. A very pale gold colour with a characteristic thin white head. The flavours have spices like coriander, and possibly cardamom popping out. A great beer indeed.

Excellent crispness. Orange, licorice, yeast, spiced malt, lemon, and grass. Subdued bite with a medium body. Fruity and yet not sweet. Some acidity and very sticky palate. Excellent session beer.

Bottle from Elizabeth Taylor.
Pours a lively, foggy golden yellow with a fluffy white head. Aroma is lemongrass tea, orange rind, coriander, and a touch of spring dew. Flavor isn’t coffe and ripened cucumber but it IS lemongrass hay, light seltzer, subtle juniper and coriander, and semi-sweet baking soda. Uber-tingly on the tongue. Very refreshing and satisfying; I’ll have this again.

750ml from winooski beverages in winooski vermont. Yellow pour with a sloght haze, and a big fluffy wite head. Big aroma of corriander, and malted wheat with a citrus punch. The flavor is quite wheaty and yeasty with a nice sharp citrus/hop finish. The bitterness is very low, and this is quite refreshing. Nice patio beer.

750ml bottle, uncorked. Hazy pale, unfiltered, yellow orange. Reminds me of their Sahtea in the strong herbal spice notes. Smooth, strawy lime, lemon, wheat. Very mellow, medium bodied beer. Quite drinkable and refreshing, Creamy. Complex. Quite nice.
