75cl, new exclusive American brew Anno 2011, with grape must, thx to Secret Santa!, complex brew, malty/sweet and slightly vinous/spicy, not balanced, clear, small head, nice brew, yet expensive!

Location/Date:Draft at DFH Gaithersburg, 6/12/2012.

Appearance: Pours a gold clear.
Aroma: Aroma is mostly of grapes.
Taste: All I could taste was grapes, faint hop.
Palate:Light body, somewhat fizzy.

Summary: I understand the angle on this beer, but it’s too close to a light wine to be something I’d really enjoy.

Sweet, sour, and grassy aroma from the neck. Pours wicked clear light gold with an aggressive frothy white head. Malty sweet and vinous aroma. First sip is WOW! What an interesting brew. The flavor of white wine is very forward. It nearly tastes like champagne to be honest, with a similar carbonation. But the alcohol is fairly well masked...at least balanced out well. Good combination of malts and hops to pair with the fruit. So a specialty brew perhaps not getting the justice it deserves. IMO, a well made and interesting, quaff. Very refreshing! Tasted @ 54F.

Sampled from the bottle with James, and again down at brewvival. I really didn’t care for this as much as I had hoped. Really grapey and like a chardonay a bit. I’m not much of one for wine, so this didn’t really do very much for me. I thought it would be more saisony, but it only faintly had those citrus/farmhouse/refreshing qualities. Meh.

Aroma is very much like a triple; pear-like with a spice. Light, clear golden in color with a great, lacey pure white head. Interesting blend of flavors...overall reminds me more of a funky cider. Grape-white-winey, touches of spice, some light tart-funky notes in the middle, and wine-like finish.

draft at Monk’s for Beer week lunch with Sam. Pours a beautiful light golden straw color with slight head that lingers. nose is chardonnay, sweet fruity aldehydes, fresh cut grass. first sip is melon, vinuous notes but you feel the saison, finish is dry. nice beer.

Aromas of hay, straw, and notes of grape. Pale yellow and clear, white head. Taste is sweet, kind of a wine taste. Dry palate, a bit fizzy. Overall, this beer is light, refreshing, and very drinkable with well hidden ABV. A nice change of pace, but not a style that I would drink consistently.

Bottle:   Translucent straw, light carbonation large white dishwater like head.   Very much filtered as this is very clear.   Soft musty white grape and white wine like aroma.   On the tongue its tart at first, chardonay like, with lots of musty grape flavors.   As it turns out, its very dry, very musty, and very wine like.   This is a fruit beer?   At first it was listed as a Saison, not a Fruit Beer.   I don’t know what to make of this as its very different.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Seems more like a wine than beer, but even than its not as sweet or high in ABV.   Weird to drink this thinking its a beer when most of my senses say its a white wine.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   The finish totally reminds me of a white wine, dry with that musty white grape aspect.   I would have never thought this as a beer, never.   Fruit Beer... really?

Nice aromas of white grapes with a light gold color. Very smooth and tastes truly like a combo of wine and beer, but in a good way. Seems more like a wine with beer in it vs a beer with elements of wine it. All in all, interesting, but wouldn't come back for more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
