This is wine. There is some malt backing it in there somewhere but lots of white grape aromas and flavors mingle in. An easy-drinker,a good job of blending the two main ingredients. I guess I didn’t read the label b/c it says Voignier but I was expecting red grapes of some variety.

Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Clear light straw body, thick puffy off-white head. Funky, tart nose with grape, clove, and hints of bubblegum; phenolic and wheaty. Body tart, sweet and sour, dominated by complex grape and grapeskin notes with punchy alcohol and phenols, backed by biscuity wheat and a touch of clove. Unusual and enjoyable.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of Pils malt, wheat, white grapes, yeast, must, fruit, and white wine. Poured pale yellow/gold in color with a large, creamy, dense, off-white head that lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is heavily sweet. Tastes of grapes, wheat, yeast, mushrooms, fruit, and white wine. Light to medium body. Slick, thinish texture. Average carbonation. Wheat, grape, yeast finish is heavily sweet. 9%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

750ml bottle. Really didn’t know what to expect from this one. Aroma of champagne, grapes, and citrus. Crisp taste somewhat like a chardonnay, apples, saison, some hops. I enjoyed this one more as I worked my way through the bottle. Overall an awesome offering.

Pours clear pale golden, fluffy white head that persists. Looks like sparkling white wine with dense lacing when you swish the glass. Nose is clean, white grapes, citrus, cotton candy, must. Taste is cotton candy, esters, white grapes. Finish is tart and dry on a medium finish. Unique ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

aroma of white wine, yeast ,and a bit of citrusy hops way in the background...appearance clear yellow gold with pure white dissipating head some lacing..tastes mostly like white wine with a bit of spice and just a tingle of hops a nice flavor simce i like wine too but fairly unexpectedly tilts toward the wine rather than ale side..thin on the palate lightly carbonated leaves a semi dry white wine aftertaste..overall,at first taste i though "oh brother" but it does have a way of making you like it as you sip it..a cool novelty and i might try again more of a wine than an ale though id say

Poured bright gold, with a small bright white head. Good lacing, smells of bread, yeast, champagne, grape, and funk. Taste is clean and crisp, with a light bitter finish. I don’t get much of the grape until the aftertaste. This beer is really different and reminds me more of a sparkling wine/champagne. Good beer, worth a try.

Draft at Jerry’s. Pale gold with big, creamy, white head / Elegant nose of white grapes, malolactic fermentation, biscuit, with a hint of bubblegum / Medium body, resinous, lively carbonation, mostly dry with a hint of sweetness, with good finish / Flavors of fermented white grapes with the perfumey character of viognier evident, resin, and biscuit / Not a fan of Dogfish’s grape series, but it is certainly well done. Not sure, though, that DH understands the nature of botrytis, to extract water from the grapes so as to produce super sweet juice. This brew has no such dessert character and wonder if it is correct to expect botrytis to produce a flavor?

Capped 750 from Malt & Vine. Pours gold with a 3 finger foamy/bubbly white head. Aroma is earthy/bretty. Ok, so there’s no brett, but I guess rot is rot. This is a good rotty smell. Full bodied. Flavor is vinous, musty, citrus and a whole lot of undifferentiable things. Moldy. Despite which it is somewhat like a nice spicy white wine. High end Pinot Gris. I rescind all bad thoughts I have ever had about those idiots at DFH. Uh, marvelously talented brewers at DFH. I am stunned. This could be my fav.
