3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy straw color similar to a wit. A foamy one-finger bright white head hangs around for a few minutes. After settling, however, it clears into a bright golden elixer in the glass. White wine notes in the nose and taste. In fact, this tastes more like a dry Chardonnay or Pinot Gris than a beer. After a couple of glasses, Iím starting to appreciate this more. The heavy wine flavors have faded on my palate and the rustic spiciness of the Saison style really comes forward. Flavors of water cracker remain after the sip. This really grew on me and was a nice accompaniment for all of the flavors of my Easter dinner.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 17, 2014 Draft at the Khyber in January 2012. Full and fruity. Chardonnay color. Small head but it lingers and creates lots of lace. Bright sour apples. Slight spice but the fruitiness overpowers it, though enough sourness to balance off much of the sugar. Grassy. Reads a bit too much as a fruit wine, but should get better with some age. UPDATE: Having a second time, now at Monks in June 2012. Has gotten a bit smoother with age without losing its bright notes. Still a nice full palate 6 months later. UPDATE: Having now at Monks in April 2014. Golden yellow Chartreuse pour. Very fizzy. Bright pears. Some acetic notes. Feels much harsher than I remember. UPDATE: Found a 2010 keg (original vintage?) on draft at Eulogy in August 2014. Slight hazy gold pour that still has a substantial frothy white head. Many of the sharper notes have mellowed considerably. Thinner but not flat. Still some life in it. The acetic notes are very faint now. Flavors are blurred together. Smoothed out very well. Some mild numbness on the tongue is the only indication that 10% ABV is still lurking in there.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
this ale had a clear pale yellow (straw) pour and made a three finger fluffy white head that receded a bit but always kept a cover, it left spots and sheets of lacing on the sides of he glass, the glass had a center stream of medium flowing bubbles with a couple of smaller streams elsewhere, and I found no sediment in the bottle,
this drink had faint aromas of white grapes, pale malt with faint bread, some light fruit sweetness that resembled white grape juice,
there was a little earth character in the background, and a little bit of phenols (smoke),
the flavors were pear fruit and white grape, some hints of apple cider with pale malt in the background, a little grape tannin to,
the finish was dry with some acidity that scrapes the palate a bit,
the mouth feel was less than medium and left the palate dry,
I thought this beer had the smell and taste of phenols, the alcohol was hidden well, I thought this beer was a little interesting.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
This is unlike anything Iíve ever experienced. Pours a bubbly yellow with a large white head. Smells dry, like champagne, with an element of some sort of funk I canít describe. I think the best way I could characterize this is by describing it as a sort of "sour champagne" taste. Definite wine grape character with the "botrytis" infection character apparent. VERY sour.

Aroma of champagne, clove, and a bready yeast. Pours very carbonated and ginger ale colored. Big bubbly head. Taste OS sweet. Dry grape, floral, and a sweet gingery herb. Great bready aftertaste. Surprising and delicious.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a translucent pale gold with a one finger head that retains. Aroma of sour grapes, slight funk. Taste follows nose, slightly tart, funk and sour grapes are pretty up front on this. Overall this is a real pleasant surprise from DFH. New and interesting brew!

Buttery at first sip. But it turns into a unique brew. Tons of wine flavors and aromas from the grapes. The yeast provides a light tartness.
