A fine beer, definitely not worth the cost though. The fermented grape idea works well enough but produces a not-sour-enough gueuze-type beer. Lighter than you would think.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle aged at least a year - pours clear orangish-gold with a white head. Aroma slightly acidic with a mustiness of the white wine. Taste is saison like with just enough sourness so you notice, but not so much that you would call it sour. This slight sourness is layered with a more traditional malt thing. Very nice!

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Yoav. Slightly hazy golden. Aroma is floral, slightly funky, with white wine fruitiness, sulphury notes, cidery hints and wood. Semi-dry flavor with vinous fruitiness, spicy notes, woody notes, apples and alcohol. Medium-bodied.

Golden color with white top, complex smell - grape must. Less sour than expected, nice flavor blend. Like geuze. complex.

Clear yellow pour with a white head. Lots of yeast, spice and grape must on the nose. Not really pleasant. The same spice and grapes on the palate with a nice funky edge.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is musty lemongrass and straw with only slight white wine. Light yellow barely opaque with frothy white head. Taste is Saison driven with tart white grape. Subdued.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Very, very, very pale straw color. I thought I had poured Bud Light for a second. Small white head that falls fast. Some lacing. Champagne aroma. Yeast as well. Tastes like a carbonated wine cooler. Meh.

Bottle from Secret Santa - Thanks! Bright yellow, loose white head. Smells light, crisp. Starts beery, finishes like a wine. Lots of sweet white wine character, nice sour, lemony flavors. Slight musty notes, too. Unique and tasty. Thanks!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 13, 2013 Brilliant clarity. Large White head that shortens quickly, remains thin. medium carbonation. Body is medium light. Most characteristics are a middle between a saison and white wine. Aroma is fruit (white wine grapes, possible nelson sauvign hops), spicy, yeast and malt come through as temp warms. Lemon, citrus/pepper spice, white grapes, pleasant malt flavor and well balanced.

Amazing golden straw color. Great balance between vigioner and beer. Aroma of a saison. We love the bottle but not as much as we love Sam!
