COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by a tale of a cask doctor who brought sluggish ales back to life by suspending a fig in them. Brewed from 100% Maris Otter pale ale malt, a blend of fine hops and conditioned on dates and figs. User Instructions: open bottle, pour contents into two snifters. Enjoy. ALTERNATIVELY: Walk hand-in-neck with bottle into the middle of the woods. Use shovel to dig 2x2 hole three feet deep. Seal bottle in plastic bag. Place in hole and pack with dirt. Memorize location and leave. Return exactly one year later. Dig up bottle, open and enjoy.

Quite boozy with strong flavors of figs, raisins, dates, candied orange, with hints of sweet vermouth, rye, and bubblegum. Overall quite tasty and interesting, but very sweet.

Pours a copper color with a white head. I was surprised how light the color was compared to the taste. Smells of fruits, mostly peaches and alcohol. Tastes smooth for a 15% beer. Taste of apricot and peach. The finish is sweet and fruity. Very good barley wine. I’m going to cellar a couple.

Pours orange amber with medium off-white head. Aroma of mango, peaches, toffee, butterscotch, caramel malt. Taste is very sweet at first before a bit of sour bitter kicks in to balance it. A touch of alcohol but surprisingly controlled. Long warming finish. Body is medium and creamy with soft carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2012 Bottle. Hazy dark orange with a off white head. Aroma: huge sweet maltiness, caramel, fruits, berries, raisins, some citrusy hops, candy. Smells nice. Taste: sweet, caramel, slightly boozy but well hidden, nice fruity characters with raisins and orange. I like this one!

Bottle bought bottle from DFH in Rehobooth in Oct-2011, opened Apr-2013. This beer does "age with the best of ’em". Dark, cloudy cooper brown pour. Thin white head that disappeard quickly. No lacing. Strong, sweet aroma of caramel and salt water taffy. Front end burst of malt and orange, sweet. Back end fades quickly but 15% alcohol runs up into your nose, WOW!

Tasted a 5 year old bottle, some oxidation but compliments the robust dark fruit complexity. Hops really only spicy now and is mostly a hot malt bomb - great on a cold night. Low carbonation cloudy deep amber. Thick mouthfeel - still hotter than I would have expected, and less mellow. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
