COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by a tale of a cask doctor who brought sluggish ales back to life by suspending a fig in them. Brewed from 100% Maris Otter pale ale malt, a blend of fine hops and conditioned on dates and figs. User Instructions: open bottle, pour contents into two snifters. Enjoy. ALTERNATIVELY: Walk hand-in-neck with bottle into the middle of the woods. Use shovel to dig 2x2 hole three feet deep. Seal bottle in plastic bag. Place in hole and pack with dirt. Memorize location and leave. Return exactly one year later. Dig up bottle, open and enjoy.

Draft - Vinous and acetone with some crazy sugary sweetness. Clear copper with a thin beige head. Caramel crazy sweetness with a nice bit of booze. Vinous and as it sits and you drink it, it gets better. Maybe the huge ABV gets you drunk so it tastes better? Bad start, nice finish.

2012 bottle. Excellent since the last time I had it it's conditioned very well. The Maris otter malt shines with the compliments of figs and dates. Very little carbonation nice malty sweetness not too sweet. Nice mellow finish. Would never be able to tell it's 15% except for the heat rising up my face. Excellent can't wait to have another one of these next year. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours golden brown with absolutely no head. It's old school beer, so lacks any carbonation. The aroma is of sweet, malty tones. Taste of malt, figs and sweet tones through out the entire cycle. The lack carbonation doesn't impair the beer in anyway. Rate it 9/10. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft from Dogfish head fairfax. Pours cognac brown with a thin head. Doesn’t leave much lacing. Big boozy woody nose. Smells a bit like diesel. Smooth on the tongue with some hops dipped in sugar kind of vibe. Finishes clean. Hides it’s booze well. Not a big barleywine fan but this is name.

Pours a ruby brown with a thin tan head with decent lacing. Aroma is of candied fruits, figs, dates, toffee, bread pudding, molasses, sweet caramel malts, and some yeasty notes. Taste is similar to the aroma with maybe just a little booze in the finish. Has a full body with a creamy, oily mouthfeel, and a slightly dry, semi bitter, long finish. Overall, a complex, tasty barleywine that is a nice dessert sipper.

Tap at Macgregors. Malty English style nose, oranges, honey. Pretty, deep orange color with a low head. Tangy orange flavors, honey, biscuits, dark fruits, a good bit of tartness. Creamy, full body. Lovely.
