Inveigler (371), Ferndale, Michigan, USA May 1, 2005 Nice crystal tangerine color. Very herbal aroma with some noticable hops and soft pillowy yeast tones. A little thinner than I would expect at the alcohol level -- the hops don’t really work with this, but somehow I don’t mind. An enjoyable brew.
Beardface (258), Eugene, Oregon, USA Nov 30, 2008 Yellow orange pour with a small head. Very citrusy with a boozy body and very heavy sugar flavors. Quite tasty. SuperDave70 (929), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Nov 27, 2008 I don’t know the age of the bottle I sampled, except that it was at least one year old. Slightly hazy golden orange color with nearly no head. Sweet malt, alcohol and fuit in the aroma. Flavor is seriously sweet with brown sugar, raisins, citrus, alcohol and a lasting hoppiness. Seemed nearly overpowering by the end of the bottle. Good, but I would recommend sharing! nbutler11 (303), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 31, 2008 Bottle courtesy of jonpol. Pours a glowing orange color from the bottle with a faint off-white head for a barley wine. Loaded with citrus peels, yeast, and alcohol. Hard to pinpoint anything else. Strong, like bull. dkachur (1058), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Oct 30, 2008 2007 bottle courtesy of ucusty. Thanks! Pours a hazy browish red with minimal head. Huge boozy rubbing alcohol in the nose with some brown sugar and fruity notes. Taste is booze, molasses, brown sugar, woody hops, raisin and citrus. Thick bodied and quite the undertaking. Wasatch (182), Layton, Utah, USA Oct 25, 2008 A - Pours a clear golden/orange color, nice carbonation, small head, nice island puddles of lacing thorought out the drink.
S - Scents of malts, citrus, and spices.
T - The taste is kinda sweet and malty, and slightly tangy. Alcohol content is hidden very well. This does not taste like a barleywine at all to me, maybe because of the higher ABV, but very tasty indeed.
M - Medium body. Very well balanced and complex.
D - Very drinkable at the ABV. Another great brew from DFH. Highly recommended.
