Commercial Description:
Big Brown Ale aged on palo santo wood from Paraguay. This beer is a 12% abv, highly roasty, and malty brown ale aged on the wood of the Palo Santo tree from Paraguay. Palo Santo means "holy tree" and it's wood has been used in South American wine-making communities. We were lucky enough to get our hands on 20 blocks of the super-dense wood and the wood was added to the ageing tank after fermentation.

Bottle from GAManiac. Thanks, Grant! Pours a deep, dark black with a nice head of olive green. Aroma is plumb chocolate with a splash of smoky cherry. Hints of chocolate-soaked raisin, rum, maple syrup, dark chocolate, and a touch plumb mesh together to form a gooey glob of delicious. Thick, coating mouthfeel. A very nice and flavorful beer; I’d love one of these on a cold night.

Pours dark red almost black with not much head. On the nose I get sweet candied sugar, and you can smell the wood, also get a plum smell on there as well. On the palate there is candied sugar, malts, wood, a hint of plum in there. Lacing the glass very well. Full bodied. Great beer.

Aroma is like a homebrewer let his ferm temps get a little too high-unappealing weird fruitiness. Flavor has some nice dark malts and a bit of wood, but really not that much.

The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass also. Starts strong-malty, firy-alcoholic. Quite woody. Complex maltiness, finish a little bit sweet. Very good beer! Big thanks to tish for the bottle!

On tap at Naked City. Pours Black with a large, foamy tan head. Nutty, malty, spicy aroma with a hint of alcohol. Roasty, earthy brown sugar malt taste. Full bodied and smooth. Buttery, spicy, woody finish.

This is the kind of beer that you can’t get anywhere else. If you are looking for a beer that is undeniably unique try this beer. Pour a very dark brown with a brown head. Smell is of sweet toasty sugar like a sweet BBQ. The taste is vanilla and maple and finishes warm like a good bourbon.

Pours near black, and opaque, with small brown head that doesn’t retain long. Nose has an herbal tea, Cuisine of India aroma to it, with oaky flavors in the background. Palate wise it is noticeably syrupy in body, with gooey roasted malt & maple up front, balanced by tartness from wood and hops. Carbonation carries through nicely and somehow the alcohol is entirely disguised.
