Appears and tastes like a big stout. Absolutely delicious. Full bodied with a roasty finish. The aroma is sweet and woody. Becoming one of my favorites.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle picked up from Sugaya, 12%. Served in a snifter, this is a big american brown ale aged in a specially made tank made of palo santo wood from paraguay. It pours a thick viscous dark black with a slight tan almost brown head that doesnít linger. Really interesting aroma, similar to sandalwood. Iím getting a soft woody nose, with oak, bacon, a touch of milk chocolate. Iím not a huge fan of barrel aged beers so Iím really digging the subtle aroma. Medium-full smooth body with lots of warmth spreading down my throat. The taste is similarly unique: nutty, umami, milk chocolate, woody, vanilla, light smoke with bacon notes popping up from time to time. The finish is great, a kind of earthy wood note that reminds me of smelling pipe tabacco or cigars... tabacco leaf... would love to smell the actual palo santo wood, this beer rocks.

Cola coloured pour with no head. Dried fruit aroma, a bit of caramel. Taste is plum jam, roast, burnt toffee, a little bitter on the finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma - of roast, spices, a little alcohol, and some chocolate
Appearance - black body with a small off-white head, that turns into a small halo
Taste - was complex for sure - rich roast, dark malts, burnt sugar, some caramel, alcohol as well
Feel - very rich and the finish is long.

This memorable brown ale brewed is apparently brewed in GINORMOUS wooden vessels that come from the rare Palo Santo tree wood. Dark and viscous like a stout, but candied cherries and vanilla permeate from this brown.

Draft at Winberries.
Pours dark brown with minimal head. Aroma of dark fruit. Taste is plum, dark sugar. The malt here is sweet and so well balanced. The wood barrels add such an interesting and unique flavor. Hard to describe but so good.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black with a very little tan head that quickly fades. The aroma is consistent with standard brown ales. Caramel, vanilla, dark malts. The taste is rich with a slight bitterness that is quickly taken over by heavy wood notes. At 12% there's only a hint of a warm alcohol presence. The palate is medium to heavy with a syrupy aftertaste. This is a big enjoyable, brown woodsy ale.

I like this a lot. Nice bitterness, great layers of the warmer fruits/roasted/chocolate things. Let down by the fact I canít pour with a head. Really nice beer though, and way to easy to drink at this ABV. Top stuff. Get in!
