Commercial Description:
Big Brown Ale aged on palo santo wood from Paraguay. This beer is a 12% abv, highly roasty, and malty brown ale aged on the wood of the Palo Santo tree from Paraguay. Palo Santo means "holy tree" and it's wood has been used in South American wine-making communities. We were lucky enough to get our hands on 20 blocks of the super-dense wood and the wood was added to the ageing tank after fermentation.

Pours a motor oil black with a short lived beige head. Aroma is sweet, chocolate, raisin, maybe some cherry, alcohol, light roast coffee. The flavour is a reflection of the aroma spot on, anise in the finish rounds this delicious beer of nicely. Warming alcohol sensation. Top notch, god bless you dogfish head.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks David C. Really dark brown with a light brown head. Strong aroma of sweet chocolate. Sweet and alcoholic flavor with chocolate, some nuts, some licorice and some slightly strange fruitiness. Full-bodied and boozy. Decent but overpowering.

At a tasting, thanks David, quickly dissapearing beige head, colour is dark brown and quite opaque but with some lightish taints, aromas of maple, dried frutis, and some oxidised notes, flavours of dried fruits, charcoal and chocolate. Much too sweet and alcoholic, and quite unbalanced.

Bottle courtesy of brentfresh. Dark brown pour. Sweet aroma. Fruit and sweet plum. Taste is sweet dry with heavy malts. Tingle on the tongue. Flavor finishes sadder than the Belgian strong I had previous.

Very dark, very strong. This is a very deep-flavored ale with a lot of coffee, raisin, cherry, and smokey textures. One to be enjoyed slowly on a cold evening…

Thanks David for sharing this one, pours brown opaque with a chocolate color small head, aroma of chocolate, grapes, raisins, cherries, burbon and wood, thick texture, flavors of coffee, cardboard, cherry liquor, scotch and bitter pleasant finish, medium bodied, alcohol is a bit too high. Nice beer

Pours black with foming head like expresso. "Huge beer" best spit among friends. Complex flavers of licorice, anisitte, coffee and smoke meats. Palate lingers and leaves you fulfulled.
