legion242 (1572), Richardson, Texas, USA Oct 14, 2009 A little ho-hum for me.The saving grace was the obvious "wood" presence- very interesting. 13mikey (117), New Hope, Minnesota, USA Oct 13, 2009 12 oz bottle from Casanova. Deep dark brown pour with a tan head. Boozy, caramel smell. Thick sweet mouthfeel, flavor is a complex mix of caramel, hint of chocolate, almost a sherry like flavor. Huge beer with a wonderful finish. Atom (1), Minnesota, USA does not count Oct 12, 2009 Great stuff. Very distinct malty roasted flavor. Not over powering flavor and very drinkable. djd07 (721), Houston, Texas, USA Oct 11, 2009 Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small light tan head that diminishes
quickly to nothing leaving decent spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is
a strong roasted malt and alcohol with chocolate and cherry. Thin mouthfeel with a roasted malt taste and chocholate and brown sugar. Alcohol well hidden making it very easy to drink. A very impressive American strong ale from Dogfish Head. BVery (446), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Oct 10, 2009 BOTTLE: thick black pour, offwhite head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted coffee, and port. Medium body, taste is coffee, bourbon, and vanilla. Awesome. BierBauch (638), Cape Coral Waterfront Wonderland, Florida, USA Sep 30, 2009 Pours thick and a deep mahogany with a stout like creamy head. I smell chocolate, coffee and of course the wood. Picking up licorice as it warms Medium to full body like a porter or stout. tatses sweet with espresso, cocoa and dried fruit. More like a stout than an American ale. Pretty intense flavors mask the alcohol well. beersearcher (203), Glendale, California, USA Sep 29, 2009 Dark brown and very malty. very harsh on the back end with alcohol. almost competing against the lovely malt taste.
