COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big Brown Ale aged on palo santo wood from Paraguay. This beer is a 12% abv, highly roasty, and malty brown ale aged on the wood of the Palo Santo tree from Paraguay. Palo Santo means "holy tree" and it's wood has been used in South American wine-making communities. We were lucky enough to get our hands on 20 blocks of the super-dense wood and the wood was added to the ageing tank after fermentation.

Bottled. Pours pitch black with a small beige head. Nose of slightly roasted malt, wood, caramel and alcohol. Sweet flavor with caramel, chocolate, vanilla and overripe fruit along with some spicy notes. More dry finish with a little malt bitterness and alcohol. Excellent and an enjoyable sipper.

Tap at brewery. Black pour. Wood, medicine, caramel, oak, vanilla. Big body. Almost creamy coffee and vanilla body. Good carbonation to balance out the big body. Great

355ml bottle from Saveur Biere

Deep black colour with a beautiful brown head. Aroma of chocolate, tree bark and winegum. Excellent full-bodied taste and mouth-feel. Alcohol feels in palate but not disturbingly. Superb dessert beer for slow sipping.

Wood aged brown ale beer with lots of chocolate and caramel flavour with a hint of vanilla, this would have scored higher with me had they called it a stout or porter

Pours a dark brown, almost black, with little head but nice lacing. Sweet malty, caramel on the nose. A creamy mouthfeel with alcohol on the tongue. Vanilla, caramel, and alcohol throughout. A very good, somewhat wacky brown ale.

Reviewed from notes. I’ve had this in a pint glass several times but once in a tulip. There wasn’t any differences. The appearance was basically a ruddy brown color with a nice one finger white foamy head that dissipates at a decent pace leaving some nice lacing. The smell was basically like a woody Brown Ale with some light vanilla and booze features. The taste was basically the same. On the palate, it sat about a medium on the body with a nice smooth slightly creaminess running about my mouth and tongue. Overall, I say this was a nicely done Strong Ale.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown almost black ink color. Thick long standing dark brown head with heavy lacing. Sweet fruity aroma. Deep roasted malt flavor on the front with a sweet finish that has a distinct alcohol finish. Very well done, Dogfish Head! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
