Oakes (6784), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 25, 2008 Very dark brown. Toffee, alcohol and wood in the fairly rich, demerara-accented nose. Firm alcohol, sweet and with lots of brown sugar character, fig and raisin, wood and alcohol. The finish is a bit boozy. argo0 (6018), Washington DC, USA May 14, 2008 (Lupulin Reunulin) Small brown head atop cola body. Aroma is moderately sweet, canilla, some chocolate, cream, caramel, wood. Taste is moderately sweet, vanilla/chocolate, alcohol (light burn). Smooth medium-full body. kp (6000), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Updated: May 3, 2008Date: 02/09/2007

Rastacouere (5201), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 5, 2008 Objectively speaking:
Weird beast with a strong barrel character that seemingly takes more room than actual malt.
I like:
Another exceptional alcohol concealing job by DFH. Moka and vanilla interesting notes.
I dislike:
I don’t consider plywood astringence to be a proper substitute to hops when it comes to balancing a beer’s enormous sweetness. Not as vinous as hoped, though certainly tannic. Not that aromatic really. Annoying molasses dominating note. CaptainCougar (4599), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 2, 2008 Pours a mostly opaque black with mahogany edges and a frothy, wispy-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of dry toasty earthy malts with some vanilla, wood, and black cherries and plums. The nose becomes more woody and complex as it warms. Body starts fairly full with a nice dark caramely sweetness, some mild woodsy smoke and ash and good balance of dark fruity complexity throughout. Finishes slightly drier, bittersweet and mildly warming. An enjoyable and complex brew that should age pretty well.
