An experimental beer using one ingredient from every continent (crystallized ginger from Australia, fermantable blue rice from Asia, Belgian yeast, etc.) Pangaea is the name of the Earth's sole supercontinent before the continents split over a billion years ago.

Cloudy golden pour with a thick white head. Decent aroma of ginger, spices and yeast. The flavor is also decent with ginger, spices and yeast. The palate is light and creamy and the carbonation is lively. Humm, what to say, it’s a worthy experiment but comes out being a barely good beer.

The Lure:
Foamy carbonation propulses ginger spiciness and honey sweetness. White grape fruitiness accompanies the fresh grain, curiosity is tickled, and nostrils awakened.

The Festivities:
Big-bubbled effervescence is pugnacious and bothersome. Ginger predominates, along with the grapey fruitiness, but they are either too shy to shine or are overcome by the bubbling. Faint alcohol is perceived, which isn’t necessary, for me, at this gravity. Another interesting product from DFH, but I feel like it’s more special on paper than in the mouth.

Transcendence:
An artist doesn’t always have great ideas.

750 ml bottle shared with MartinT, tiggmtl, Rastacouere, beerbuzzmontreal and Yowie. This was near the end of a long session, and I’m afraid my notes are a little vague, so bear with me. Poured go&^% or&*^ colo3 with a sm*&^ head...vaguely in(*&^ sweetish herb*(& aroma....mostly sweet and *(&yish body with touches of shar&^^ spices...another &*%^% effort from Dog&*&^ Head.

2004 bottle: Pours a coppery color and cloudy with floaties and a large off white head. Smells mildly sour with some strong grassy elements. Taste is spicy with some strong ginger notes, and some mellow bitter citrus. Surprising for a 7% beer that’s been sitting around for 2 years on a shelf.

The ginger is very apparent in this, both in aroma and flavor. Big foamy light tan head. It was good, but nothing outstanding.

750ml. bottle. Hazy golden/orange color with a huge white head. Complex, musty aroma of yeast, lemon, ginger and fresh herbs. Sweet malty, ginger flavor with some citrus and yeast. Dries quite a bit on the finish. Unusual, but very drinkable beer.
