Cloudy amber pour. Small off white head with stringy lacing. Nose is herbal hops, black tea, intense caramel malt. Slightly sweet and fruity. Moderate carbonation. Tea, bright and herbal hops, candied lemon. Strong malt backbone on this one. Couldn’t really taste much pear, but this one is still pretty different and fun.

Tap @ Dogfish Head in NoVA. Golden yellow with white head and decent lacing. Smells dry and lemony, bordering on saison-like. Taste is lemony and dry,.but not saison-like. Moderate carbonation.

Bottle - Smells malty sweet. Kind of a dry taste to it, can’t taste much if any pear flavoring. No bitterness with a large amount of malt flavor going on. Has a pretty light flavor to it, much lighter than I expect from a Dogfish crafted beer.

Pours clear brilliant gold, fluffy white head. Mildly sweet aroma. Hoppy, moderate bitterness, tad sweet, notes of the tea really come through and compliment the hops/bitterness. A nice take on a style that can get monotonous, I say the risk resulted in a great reward for the drinker. A new favorite.

On tap at Natalie’s coal fired pizza. Piercing pils is a clear lighter golden with a good head of white foam. Nose is light roasted malt. Taste is a good crisp bitters and mild malt. Light sweetness. Body is light and crisp. Clean finish.

Citrus aroma, some pear/pineapple...a bit off. Crystal clear gold with a frothy white head. Sweet citrus up front. Fruity up front with some corn as well. Peppery bitterness follows. Crisp mouth feel, refreshing. The mix of fruit with pilsner is interesting but not my cup of tea. Will try again in summer as it is Zero degrees at the moment.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale orange with a thin white head. Aroma of pale malts, earthy hops, light fruits, apricot. Flavor of pale malts with sweet fruits and pear in the finish. Also floral hops and a slightly spicy, bitter hop presence. The pear juice is subtle but certainly present. Lightly hopped. An excellent variant pilsener. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)

Slightly Hazy Golden Color, Huge Foamy Head That Lasts And Leaves Lots Of Thick Lacing. Pear Aroma. Lively Above Average Carbonation. Sweet Mild Pear, With Modest Hop Bitter Finish and Aftertaste. After Trying their Tweason’ Ale I was somewhat skeptical of yet another Fruit Beer. Pleasant Surprise, This One actually Pretty Good. Easy Drinker. Enjoyed It. Worth A Try.
