Long Island, NY - 12 oz. bottle poured a clear blind color with lots of fluffy head and good lacing. Aroma is classic pilsner with a hint of something sweet. Taste is full of saaz hops and a good malt backbone. This reminds me of traditional pils from Europe. However, DFH has decided to add a sweet touch to it. Nice brew, very nice!

some kinda fruity honey like aroma which is ok since you don’t get the overiding pear to set the tone. then what you get is a fairly intense pilsener type brew with good body and flavor as it should be. without any gimmick from the pear. nice bitter thru out and a sense of tang not easy to discern. so it’s a bit mysterious.

A: Cloudy, orange, white head that quickly disappears. S: I just smell soap. T: Pear, orange, floral, and again, soap. M: Light body, oily mouth coating some lingering burn. O: It had potential, but something between the pear and the Saaz hops makes this a bit soapy to me.

Pours a semi hazy burnt yellow with an inch of head. Grassy aromas with some pear, herbal and floral hops. The taste is sour bread with grassy and herbal hops and a good deal of malts. The pear comes out as it warmed. The pear flavor seems to be a nice compliment to this style without being too noticeable. Mouthfeel is light and crisp. Overall, pretty good twist on the style.

Pours an electric yellow/orange color with a dirty water aroma. Taste is dry with a light fruit and slight hop flavor. A decent pils beer that was a little watery but had minor flavor.

12 oz bottle- Pours hazy golden with a crackly white head. Aroma is very citrusy, perfumy, floral, herbal and minimal hops. The taste is very floral, sweetarts, perfumy, some sort of juice, i suppose it’s pear, whatever pear tea is, not sure if i taste it or not. This is decent, i wish it was fresher, 2014 vintage, doesn’t give a month or day, let’s hope it was Winter of ’14.

Bottle. Golden, hazy, small to average and fully diminishing head. Light to moderate malty - lightly grainy and sweetish aroma, (pear juice)fruitiness, light grassy hoppyness. Body is light to medium, malty - lightly grainy and lightly sweetish - sweetish flavor, light fruitiness and grassy hoppyness. Finish is short to average, malty grainy and lightly sweetish, light (pear juice)fruitiness and graasy hoppyness. Pils + pear = why?

Just an odd combination that never clicked for me. The pears and hops conflict more than blend, and the resulting sharp acidity of the pear juice and tea spoil the taste. I’ve enjoyed all others I’ve tried from Dogfish Head, but not this one. Pour it from a bottle (and didn’t rate it until after the third separate occasion).
