3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Long Island, NY - 12 oz. bottle poured a clear blind color with lots of fluffy head and good lacing. Aroma is classic pilsner with a hint of something sweet. Taste is full of saaz hops and a good malt backbone. This reminds me of traditional pils from Europe. However, DFH has decided to add a sweet touch to it. Nice brew, very nice!

Transfer from BA review on 12-16-13-
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a golden amber color with a big huge pure white thick head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The smell is big of bready smells as well as a whole bunch of pear. Some grainy smells are there as well being accompanied by some stronger aromas of tea and a little bit of an herbal smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready flavor with some lighter pear and caramel malt flavors upfront. The pear flavors start out lighter, but increase in intensity as the flavor moves toward the end. Along with the pear increasing, so to come some tea flavors. They act similarly to the pear, starting out rather weak and really kicking in at the very end of the taste. Along with these flavor transitions, so too comes some lighter herbal hop flavors which with a little bit of graininess that also comes to the tongue, leaves a rather interesting grainy, tea like, and pear flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side in terms of its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. Both are rather appropriate for the fruit, tea, and grainy character of the beer and make for a rather refreshing brew.
Overall – This is somewhat like a hybrid of beer mixed with pear iced tea. A relatively odd combination of flavors, but it kind of works as it is rather crisp and refreshing.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy golden with big white head. Typical pilsner aroma: Grass bread lemon zesty. Taste is light malt but substantial in mouthfeel. Pear is subdued and pairs nicely with grassy saaz hop finish. Nice

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
"I’d think of this as a pilsner first, that just happens to have some pear juice. Pretty classic pils aroma and taste at first, a little surprising. Good n crisp, noble hop presence. Only as it warmed did the pear become obvious. Cold, it was just a hint except for in the aftertaste. A nice change, and a cheaper one, from all the expensive arse ancient honey based brews."

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12fl oz bottle poured into a Dogfish Head pilsner glass. Golden orange with a tall white head. Aroma is light citrus. Flavor is basically pears and hops. Nothing very exciting about this one. Decent pilsner but not really my thing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy gold, less clarity than a classic pilsner. The aroma has some grain notes and a spiced hop with almost a hint of chardonnay grapes. On the taste the pear is subtle, but present. There is a nice body of grainy German malt that lingers under the somewhat tart, crisp forefront. A very interesting take on a pilsner, certainly unique.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
From a 12 oz bottle.
This cloudy amber brew has a fairly good head and a surpisingly smooth and full feel. Fruity, although the specific contribution from pears is a bit subtle. A little more bitter and tart than sweet.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Serving: Bottle from Wegmans Leesburg. Hazy light orange pour with a thin white head. Odd nose of pear and grass. A touch sweet up front with pear juice notes. A little grassy bitterness on the back end. Fairly bright and crisp. I don’t dig pear in my Pils though.

Wow what a nice flavor on this pilsner. The aroma is a nice hoppy lightness. Flavor is smooth and lightly hoppy. The pear juice is not coming through much, but the hops is a nice great refreshing addition.
