4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma- A light fruitiness (If I didn’t know it was brewed with Pear juice, I’m not sure i would’ve picked it out as pear). Light citrus, herb, and earthy, peppery hops. Bready malts.
Taste- Light grapefruit, pear, bready malts, cracker, big tea notes, and slight earthy hop. Sometimes a lemony flavor is there as well. Bready, tea-like aftertaste.
Overall- I was most impressed by the characteristics brought in by the tea, but the balance was well worth remembering as well. I loved the subtle grapefruit and earthy hop presence that popped in and out. Probably as complex as a lighter beer can get. I’ve never been much of a Pilsener man, but if I ever get the urge, this is what I’m buying.

Pour is a nice blond with a small retaining head and some awesome lacing. Smell is waaaay odd, floral and herbal, almost soapy somehow? Taste is herbal, there is maybe some lavender or mint there?? But also a sweet and bitter clash which leaves a nice long bitter finish

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Decent warm weather beer. Aroma was nice. That distinct Pilsner malt smell with wet hay and a hint of light fruit. Pour was a nice somewhat hazy medium light gold with a thin white ring for a head. Taste was a little odd. Didn’t read the label before I started drinking it and was wondering why it had an off sweet flavor. The pear addition killed this beer. Nice Pils flavor at first sip- bitter and dry noble hops and wet hay but the sweetness of the pear kicks in mid sip and sweetens the beer too much. Not terrible but not what I was expecting. Very light carbonation and a sweet, sticky pear finish.

Smells more fruity, tropical than a pale ale. Cloudy like a weissbier. Tastes like a Shandy. I imagine a non beer drinker may enjoy this. It is a nice palate cleanser and it is fine with me but not even close to a pils. Not lager like at all.

Bottle. Super refreshing and drinkable. Perfect tailgate beer. The echo of pear juice is fairly subtle but surely contributes to the drinkability. Nice consistency.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle to shaker glass, pours hazy yellow gold. Two finger foamy white head.Nice lacing and small cap retention. Aroma herbal Saaz hops and pear juice. Taste is mainly fruity sweet with a typical noble hop light bitterness. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, silky mouth feel. Finishes slightly fruity bitter. Tasting notes of pear, herbs, grass and green apples. A little heavy for a Pils but interesting.

The beer pours light bright yellow with a large white head. He aroma has some dough, pils malt, herbs and light fruit. It has a medium body that’s smooth for the style and soft carbonation. The taste has some juicy fruit aspect that’s odd for the style and some spicy hops. The finish has more rich fruit. Okay, I guess.

12oz bottle...really nice fusion of pilsner, pear, and tea. Has the crisp refreshing taste of saaz with a sweet juicy flavor of pear...rather vinous. Finishes dry and delicious...good stuff.

Pilsner meets juice meets tea. Dogfish can’t just seem to make a normal beer (thank god). Surprisingly it works. It my bottle the pear is subtle & the tea avoids the dry leafiness that I have sensed in other tea beers. There’s a decent pilsner here & the pear makes it a worthwhile endeavour. My final beer on my final night on my march break madness exploration of American craft beer. Time to go home to the North & let my liver have a well deserved break.
