COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Positive Contact is a cider-beer-hybrid veeeeeery loosely based on a Belgian-style Wit beer brewed with a bunch of unconventional ingredients for the style. Typically, Wits are brewed using bitter orange peel and coriander, but we went a different route. Inspired by one of Sams trips to Eataly in New York City, Sam and Ben brewed this beer with organic Fuji apple cider, fresh organic cilantro, and dried cayenne pepper. The cider was pressed in house from 200 lbs of apples with our very own fruit press. These wonderful fresh ingredients were delivered to usa couple of days before the brew by Sams friend Zeke of Washingtons Green Grocer. The grain bill for this brew was about 50/50 wheat and barley but a small portion of Anson Mills Slow-Roasted Farro was also added. To make this awesome product, the folks at Anson Millsuse a unique ancient heirloom variety of grain which imparts a delicate aromatic quality (Farrois traditionally used in soups and similar dishes). On top of that, a new hop variety was used, named Calypso, which lends notes of pear and apple that perfectly compliment the other ingredients in the brew. It was then fermented with a Belgian Wit yeast strain, adding both fruity and spicy complexity. This beer was made with a number if ingredients more traditionally used in the culinary world and we designed it to be a dazzling nimble food-pairing brew. Positive Contact: Between beer and cider. Between food and drink. Between us and you.

This pours a mostly clear, golden yellow color with a slight foamy head. There is a decent amount of wheat, citrus, and banana in the aroma among other hints. The taste is an interesting take on the Belgian Wit beer as you get the bold yeasty, banana taste but an interesting group of spices. Don’t let the cilantro or dried cayenne pepper turn you off as you wouldn’t even know those ingredients were in there.

Drought. Rich yellow with off white spongy head, weak doughy aroma, low carbonation, high density, slightly sour cider tasting finish. Very nicely balanced, but the spices are not really discernible.

Pours a clear golden with white head. Yeast, a mixture of peppers, floral notes, fruit notes, and some raw wheat; follows onto the palate. Honestly, I don’t think this beer knows what it wants to be and it has way too many conflicting flavors. I did not care for it at all.

20oz bottle that pours a golden apple juice color with frothy head. I get a sense of lemon and apple in the smell. There?s a distinct bite and a thin well carbonated mouthfeel. It tastes a apple/pearish with some spice and hops. There?s something else I can?t pinpoint. The only downside to this beer is that its a little too rich to have more than a glass.

On tap at Global Brew. Pours a haze pale yellow with a thin white head. Some minor lacing. Aroma is banana and citrus. Taste is sweet pale malt, a bit cloying, banana and citrusy sourness. ABV not noticeable in the taste, but presents itself in warmth after the swallow. Lots of character, but one or two is plenty.

Hazy orange-amber colored pour. Small white head. Little lacing. Aroma of apple juice and malt. Some honey notes. Malt up front followed by apple and honey. Sweet finish.

A very interesting beer. The appearance was hazy yellow with a thin fizzy head. The smell was mostly apples. The taste is mostly apple, but there’s a lot of great subtle flavors

Poured a pale gold with definite lacing. Very wheat heavy nose. Tastes like a straight cross between a heavy cider and wheat beer.

Taster at the brewery. Hazy light yellow with thin white head. Heavy cider on the nose... Very complicated palate , lots going on here, cider cilantro and cayenne dancing on your tongue... Wow, very unique beverage experience!
