4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 2012. Pours lightly cloudy golden amber color with a nice 2-3 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Good soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big grape, apple, pear, pepper, clove, banana, bubblegum, cilantro, herbal, light cayenne, and yeast spiciness. Fantastic aromas with great complexity, balance, and strength. Taste of apple, grape, pear, cilantro, clove, banana, pepper, herbal, earth, grass, bubblegum, wheat, and yeast spices. Lingering notes of light fruit, banana, pepper, clove, herbal, earth, and yeast spices on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic flavor balance and complexity; with nice complimenting flavors from the herbs and spices. Nothing is overbearing. No cloying flavors at all after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with almost no warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic imperial witbier! Fantastic complexity and balance; and very smooth to sip on. This was very impressive.

Perfect cider and wheat beer mix. iChat taste cilantro or cayenne but it is great for a 9% concoction. Highly recommended!

Bottle. Aroma of apples, spices, earthy. Clear golden color, medium white head. Medium sweet flavor. Medium-thin body, high carbonation, spicy dry finish. Overall refreshing beer crossing between fruit ale and cider.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
THOUGHTS: Not very exciting. Just sort of a fruity Belgian ale with some spices. Not all that different from the Pearl Jam beer with different fruits and spices. Hid alcohol incredibly well. They cayenne started to come out later and added a little character. Eventually it did get interesting, but overall a disappointment. Not distinct enough. Had it warmer, had it colder and nothing made it taste better. It was actually a little cloying by the end. It hid the alcohol so well I was surprised when it snuck up on me.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light to medium yellow with nice carbonation and a huge, meringue-like, white head that mostly but slowly diminished and left excellent lacing. The aroma had light to moderate hay and pale malt; moderate to heavy doughy and spicy yeast; apple; vegetable; spices; herbs; and slight cayenne. The initial flavor was light light to moderately sweet and slightly acidic; while the finish was moderately sweet and slightly acidic; while the finish was moderately sweet, lightly acidic, ever so slightly bitter, slightly sour and spicy. There was mostly apple, cayenne spiciness from time to time, herbs, spices, tons of yeast, spicy and doughy yeast, and light bread. The light to medium body was ever so slightly syrupy and then fairly dry with fizzy carbonation and a spicy and dry finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Not being a hop head, this is the first Dogfish Head that i really liked. A very strange brew but obviously done with a sense of alchemical respect. The Fuji apple cider juxtaposes nicely with the wheat and barley mix. One can definitely taste the myriad of additives that have gone into this complex little beast, pepper, faro, cilantro and cumin. Mouthfeel is very velvety and smooth, the head has nice retention and is fairly long lasting. If you in the mood for something different but not over the top this is definitely worth a try.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 bottle. Pours bright yellow and hazy with a nice foamy white head. Nose is similar to a hefe, with lots of banana and yeast. Taste is totally different, with tons of apple, some banana, pepper/tanginess and a sugary end. Faint alcohol burn on the end but does hide the 9% well. Fairly dry. Nice fluffy body. I would give this a higher rating except I’m not fond of the sweetness on end-otherwise a unique and quaffable beer. Nicely done.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Surprisingly good, especially given the Dogfish Head heritage. Many times these brews are "interesting" but not truly good. This one is nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled in 2012.
A: Positive Contact pours a clear amber body with a good amount of carbonation activity rising to a dense and rather thick white head that slowly shrinks into a creamy coating on top of the beer.
S: This is a very fruity smelling beer with strawberries, banana, and hints of a crisp cider underneath though a little bit of alcohol is coming through, despite that this still has a nice aroma to it.
T: Very fruity with a cider base starting off the beer while a very strong banana presence kicks in and goes through to the finish dominating the palate. Hints of strawberries are near the finish along with a slight warming sensation from the alcohol on the finish.
M: Thick and creamy, near melted smoothie thick.
O: This is a good beer, but boy is this too heavy on the banana. This is something that should be split and maybe sipped by a pool somewhere.
