Positive Contact is a cider-beer-hybrid veeeeeery loosely based on a Belgian-style Wit beer brewed with a bunch of unconventional ingredients for the style. Typically, Wits are brewed using bitter orange peel and coriander, but we went a different route. Inspired by one of Sams trips to Eataly in New York City, Sam and Ben brewed this beer with organic Fuji apple cider, fresh organic cilantro, and dried cayenne pepper. The cider was pressed in house from 200 lbs of apples with our very own fruit press. These wonderful fresh ingredients were delivered to usa couple of days before the brew by Sams friend Zeke of Washingtons Green Grocer. The grain bill for this brew was about 50/50 wheat and barley but a small portion of Anson Mills Slow-Roasted Farro was also added. To make this awesome product, the folks at Anson Millsuse a unique ancient heirloom variety of grain which imparts a delicate aromatic quality (Farrois traditionally used in soups and similar dishes). On top of that, a new hop variety was used, named Calypso, which lends notes of pear and apple that perfectly compliment the other ingredients in the brew. It was then fermented with a Belgian Wit yeast strain, adding both fruity and spicy complexity. This beer was made with a number if ingredients more traditionally used in the culinary world and we designed it to be a dazzling nimble food-pairing brew. Positive Contact: Between beer and cider. Between food and drink. Between us and you.

Poured a pale gold with definite lacing. Very wheat heavy nose. Tastes like a straight cross between a heavy cider and wheat beer.

Taster at the brewery. Hazy light yellow with thin white head. Heavy cider on the nose... Very complicated palate , lots going on here, cider cilantro and cayenne dancing on your tongue... Wow, very unique beverage experience!

Bottle - Pours golden with a bubbly white head. Nose is real fruity, a bit of savory spice--not apple. Taste doesn’t have tons of apple. More pear and tropical fruit. Really starchy and yeasty. Gentle carbonation and medium-thin body.

This is a flavor packed glass of amazement. From the first sip through the final gulp, in a word, delicious. I've never experienced liquid enjoyment quite like this!

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2014 Bottle. Hazy yellow, low carbonation. Low offwhite head. Nice fruity nose - fresh nectarine, lemongrass, some dry code ciderish notes. Medium full, light mealy mouthfeel. Persimmon perfumed base, a hint too sweet, citric finish. In the end a quite pleasant drink, but the fusel oils gave me a bad headache.

Bottle to tulip. Nice beer and as advertised. A wit feel, fruit is strong. Apple is a nice treat and I love cayenne so this suits me well. A interesting beer and another reason dogfish gets a tip of the hat for an outside the box brew. Cheers!

Really sweet. You can obviously tell that it was made from apples. Still a very interesting beer.

Tasted on tap at DFH with ML. Pours hazy yellow with a yellow head. Aroma is over-ripe apple, pear, with hints of lemon, cinnamon and spice. Flavour is slightly sour apple, citrus, and calypso hops. Interesting fusion between a beer and a cider.

On tap, pours hazy gold, medium head. Spicy nose, sweet fruit and hot peppers. Taste reminds me of Crime and Punishment from stone. Fruity, spicy, warming to the mouth and tummy. clean finish. good beer.
