COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Positive Contact is a cider-beer-hybrid veeeeeery loosely based on a Belgian-style Wit beer brewed with a bunch of unconventional ingredients for the style. Typically, Wits are brewed using bitter orange peel and coriander, but we went a different route. Inspired by one of Sams trips to Eataly in New York City, Sam and Ben brewed this beer with organic Fuji apple cider, fresh organic cilantro, and dried cayenne pepper. The cider was pressed in house from 200 lbs of apples with our very own fruit press. These wonderful fresh ingredients were delivered to usa couple of days before the brew by Sams friend Zeke of Washingtons Green Grocer. The grain bill for this brew was about 50/50 wheat and barley but a small portion of Anson Mills Slow-Roasted Farro was also added. To make this awesome product, the folks at Anson Millsuse a unique ancient heirloom variety of grain which imparts a delicate aromatic quality (Farrois traditionally used in soups and similar dishes). On top of that, a new hop variety was used, named Calypso, which lends notes of pear and apple that perfectly compliment the other ingredients in the brew. It was then fermented with a Belgian Wit yeast strain, adding both fruity and spicy complexity. This beer was made with a number if ingredients more traditionally used in the culinary world and we designed it to be a dazzling nimble food-pairing brew. Positive Contact: Between beer and cider. Between food and drink. Between us and you.

Cider aroma. Pours with a lovely velvety head. Definitely tastes like a cider/wheat beer mix. I love this beer and I hate cider. Coriander taste is very noticable as well. Very good special release from DFH. A bit cloudy appearance.

The most notable thing here is the spicy finish. It's warm and complements the lighter flavor of the rest of the beer very well. It's flavorful, but doesn't go out of it's way to be an experience outside of the transition from the light fruit hints to the spice at the finish. All in all a good one trick beer that I would drink again any time. Good for all occassions. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pour clear yellow with champagne bubbles. Nose of clove, spice, caramel malt ,and esters. Taste the same, with some early sweetness. The ending is a little weird, earthy, mineral, then bitter. Didn’t get the cilantro or cider. Very saison like.

Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle obained through trade with watson1977 poured into a white wine glass. Pours clear golden with big fluffy white head. Little lacing, light body, low carbonation, and yeasty aroma. Taste is coriander, cayenne pepper, herbal, some apple, and spice. The ingredients don’t meld for me, pass.

Draft at craft ale house. Pours semi clear yellow with a big white, fluffy head. There is solid Retention. The aroma has a nice belgian yeast aroma worth some lemon and spice. Very Saison like. The taste had some citrusy lemon and orange up front followed by some spicy pepper and a less dry than expected finish. Nice.

Aroma of spice with hints of fruit. Pours a light clear yellow with mostly lasting white head and moderate laciing. The taste starts out like a Hefe, then spice kicks in and then goes to a grainy blandness, with more spice, and hints of apple in the finish and aftertaste. Medium-light body and soft carbonatin. Overall, glad I tried it, but I won’t try it again.

Saison base, with slight hint of apples on the nose. Not much else going on, a fairly average saison.

Yellow with a white head. Aroma is heavy on the apple cider notes with some spices and alcohol. Flavor is very similar. I get a ton of apples as well as some white pepper and other spices. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

On tap @ Bambino’s, served in a footed pilsner glass. Pours pale orangish amber with thick fluffy head. Aroma is sweet and yeasty, with notes of banana, fresh cut grass, and a hint of sliced apple. Taste is pale caramel malt, thinnish body, sharp yeasty notes, and a dry, clean finish. I honestly have a hard time picking up the cider. Or farro at that. Kind if a pleasantly twisted wit, if you like that kind of thing. Pretty standard fare for Dogfish, which isn’t a bad thing.

Bottle from Wilco Sicklerville. Pours out a lightly cloudy golden color with a big off white head. Aroma is of apples, grass, spice, light herbal notes. Taste is complex, sweet/tart apple, citrus zest, spices, clove. Light earthy grass, spices, yeast, slight drying alcohol creeping in there on the finish. Solid beer
