3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Location: 750 ml Bottle shared from jcos, 11//15/12
Aroma: The nose is Belgian yeast, spice/coriander/clove, a little banana/fruit, apple, and wheat
Appearance: Pours a clear orange color with a lasting foam of white head that leaves fairly heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is much like the nose, fairly sweet, with a nice spice component, and minimal bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, has a creamy feel, fairly clean too, with a soft carbonation, and a spicy finish
I have to say, if the description didn’t say this was a cider-hybrid I never would have guessed it. It tastes (doesn’t look, but tastes) a lot like a nice Belgian Wit to me. I actually thought it turned out really well, a top quality example of the style I only thought it was...

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
draft at Coles, i kind of like this. Cloudy wit like pour. Like a green apple witbier. witish spice, lemon zest, coriander, fruity yeast, then the green apple flavors. seem to work well together

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Served in a snifter.
This unusual, creative beer is a success, with a nicely crafted use of cilantro, cayenne pepper and other unusual beer ingrediants producing a complex, interesting, fruity and distinctive blend that is well balanced and still lets the underlying Belgian Wit character shine thru. Recommended.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Attractive golden color (although I had the beer on its side in the fridge and I did get some chunks) with a nice white head. Odd nose. Sweet fruity beer with lots of white grapes, pear, and some green apple. There is some heat in here that may be just suggested. Interesting, odd beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
In short: An inoffensive wheaty blonde ale mixed with apple juice. Unexciting gimmick beer.
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed when many months of age.
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a medium white head.
In long: Nose is unambiguously apples-forward although not as much as I expected (or feared) with some vanilla ice-cream notes. In mouth the beer is thick with a juicy texture and a medium carbonation. Taste is rather straighforeward, white bready soaked in breakfast apple juice, plenty of wheat, some honey, a few slices of dried bananas, some dried flowers. I was afraid this would be another offensive gimmicky Dogfish Head brew, but I was wrong, this is beer is offensive at all, actually this bland beer is surprisingly easy to drink in a forgettable kind of way. I don’t want to get too politic here but Dogfish started to make gimmicky beers under the Bush administration… just saying.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: Mildly Hazy Golden Straw Hue, Passes Lots of Light, White Head, Some Lacing
S: Apples, Cilantro, Mild Cayenne
T: Apple Cider, Mild Cilantro, Mild Cayenne
M: Average Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Semi Sweet, Mildly Spicy
Overall, it is pretty much as advertised. You get a good mild heat on the back end of the sip and tons of apple up front. If you dont like what you read on the label, then dont drink it. This beer is very borderline triple without the belgian sugars.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
[My bottle (750ml) shared with mds, jercraigs & mabel.] Pours a clear yellow-orange with an average size long-lasting frothy white head. Nice, interesting aroma of apples, honey, herbs, spices and some light perfumy notes. Flavour of honey followed by herbs and cider-like qualities. Medium bodied. Like I said, an interesting beer, and a good one.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Golden stalks of straw under a vibrant white head which fades into a thick layer which desperately tries to crawl up the sides of my glass. Swirls creamy with circular layers of lace.
Lemon and basil with more generic herbs in the back. Tickle of heat. Cucumber in the middle. Apricots underneath. Honey rolls and Hawaiian rolls on top. Sweet roasted chili peppers with a ghostly presence of its previously raw heat. Interesting.
Chewy creamy bready sweet mouthfeel. Spicy in the back and along the edges. Whisper of fresh bananas in the breath. Bananas flambéed in honey in the middle. The herbs and breads mingle together. Earthy nuttiness and orchard fresh apples. Cilantro. Equally interesting.
One of these days I’ll get to listen to the record the case came with, but in the meantime, I certainly enjoyed the beer. Unique on its own, Positive Contact demands to be paired with food.
