Punjabi Export is a Foreign Export Stout brewed with an organic North Indian spice mixture called Garam Masala. This mixture contains cinnamon, clove, cumin, coriander, pepper, and several other spices. Export stouts are highly popular in the West Indies despite the warmer climates. Garam Masala gives this deep black ale an exotic spiced character similar to chai but with a more bitter and woody flavor. The beer starts out extremely smooth and creamy with heavy notes of bittersweet chocolate and spice. It finishes with a bitter spicey bite. This beer is perfect for pairing with desserts like the Raison DEtre sundae or the Chicory Bacon Cheesecake, but could also hold up against the Indulgence Burger.

I really loved the punch of masala spice at the end of this stout, which probably would have only been fair to middling on its own. Weird beer that probably doesn’t play well outside of a small sampling (I had mine in a flight at the brewpub) but tasty enough in s,all quantity.

On tap @ the Brewpub-Dark pour w/a moderate head. Spiced aroma. Had some chocolate flavor to it, but mostly spice, quite a bite. Like an oatmeal stout w/a kick. Was a little too much for me, I don’t know that I’d drink this all the time, but it was.....interesting.

Took notes on this one from the Dogfish pub back in the spring and never pt them in. Different is the word here. Everything about this is minty. The aroma and taste is over the top mint but it is a stout. Similar to maybe a a peppermint patty? Still, very interesting as most DFH’s are. Apparently I was one of the lucky ones to try it.

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2013 Tap at the Rehoboth Beach brew pub - 23/05/12. Poured a dark brown approaching black with an off white head. Dark malts with a number of spicey notes, a bit like a stout curry! Roasted malt taste with a little chocolate balancing out the spices. Smooth medium bodied with a bitter dryer finish.

From the tap poured a dark brown color with a small amount of head. Spicy sweet malty flavor with a lingering finish.
