vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Oct 1, 2009 Tap @ Isaac Newton’s. Orange pour. Could smell the sweet pumpkin, cinnamon, and spices in the aroma without trying. Flavor isn’t as sweet as the aroma would have you guess, spices take over flavor. Ryan82SM (231), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Sep 30, 2009 Aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg, faint pumpkin. Appearance is orangish with creamy head. Flavor like the aroma, not enough pumpkin flavor, too much alcohol in the finish. Palate was creamy. Just kinda alright. DaSilky1 (1933), San Diego, California, USA Sep 30, 2009 Pours a brilliant shade of pumpkin pie with what starts out as a fairly large fluffy light tan head that quickly dissipates into just a thin ring around the edge of the glass. The nose is very pumpkin pie like with notes of pumpkin, nutmeg, and lots of cinnamon. Flavors are somewhat spicy with adequate hopping and a sweet background. The body is fairly medium-full for the style, which i like...and the alcohol level gives the beer some depth you don’t usually find in pumpkin beers. All in all, i quite like it, but at $10 for a 4 pack, it’s kind of stupid expensive. njmoons (52), New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2009
Pumpkin Beers, I like the way they smell...
I can’t go to far into the taste here.
Punkin Ale look, tastes, drinks, feel like a very mundane medium ale.
The aroma of this beer is great, with those pumkpin pie spices, but other than a little vegetable flavor the aroma does not transfer into the beer.
I can’t ’crush it’ because as pumpkin beers go this was solid, but not something I would drink again. Feinschmecker (176), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 29, 2009 Orange to amber color. Thin creamy head. The spice aroma of cloves and cinnamon overwhelm any other characteristics. The spice flavor is too much for me. Not enough malt flavor and not as full bodies as I would expect. It is missing something - sweetness? Not bad, just expected more. mesperon (133), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2009 Week olf rating. A very pumpkin-y ale. Tasted like pumpkin and pumpkin pie spices. This may be the best pumpkin beer ever, but I realize I’m not a fan of pumpkin beers. AskForJenny (627), Ontario, New York, USA Sep 28, 2009 12oz - Nice gold color, light tan head of sufficient size. Small bubbles. Nutmeg is predominant on nose. The malt plays off the cinnamon, then the nutmeg returns. A nice diversion. Normally I see seasonals as hokey, but this one really stands out. tmoreau (527), Lombard, Illinois, USA Sep 28, 2009 Sampled at Famous Liquors Fall /Oktoberfest Tasting in Lombard, IL. Poured a deep, gold/amber with modest, off white foam and lacing. Besides pumpkin, the nose high lighted some sweetness, a touch of caramel, and pie spices, notably nutmeg. The flavor followed with light malt and comingled pie spices. Subtle notes throughout but enjoyable.
