The spice aroma of cloves and cinnamon overwhelm any other characteristics. The spice flavor is too much for me. Not enough malt flavor and not as full bodies as I would expect. It is missing something - sweetness? Not bad, just expected more. mesperon (134), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 29, 2009 Week olf rating. A very pumpkin-y ale. Tasted like pumpkin and pumpkin pie spices. This may be the best pumpkin beer ever, but I realize I’m not a fan of pumpkin beers. AskForJenny (632), Ontario, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 1/5 | 17/20 | Sep 28, 2009 12oz - Nice gold color, light tan head of sufficient size. Small bubbles. Nutmeg is predominant on nose. The malt plays off the cinnamon, then the nutmeg returns. A nice diversion. Normally I see seasonals as hokey, but this one really stands out. tmoreau (555), Lombard, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 28, 2009 Sampled at Famous Liquors Fall /Oktoberfest Tasting in Lombard, IL. Poured a deep, gold/amber with modest, off white foam and lacing. Besides pumpkin, the nose high lighted some sweetness, a touch of caramel, and pie spices, notably nutmeg. The flavor followed with light malt and comingled pie spices. Subtle notes throughout but enjoyable. tgncc (809), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 27, 2009 The pour is a clear orange/red, white head. The aroma is fruit, pumpkin, brown sugar. the flavor is mainly pumpkin, with brown sugar, light chocolate flavor, some hops. The finish is a nice piney hop residue. The mouthfeel is on the thin side of medium. Pretty nicely done. pete4999 (125), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 27, 2009 Bottle and draft. Slightly better on tap. Pours pumpkin-orange. Smell is fruity, pumpkin-y, yeasty. Nice lacing. The taste is good because it’s not overwhelming pumpkin. Subtle pumpkin, cinnamon, brown sugar (I typed this in here and then read the description...looks like I was right). Warms as it goes down. This is quite good....not overpowering on the pumpkin, but enough pumpkin to remind you that you’re drinking a pumpkin ale. scubasteev (4), Albany, New York, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Sep 27, 2009 I’m not a big fan of pumpkin flavored beers but DFH Punk is a really fantastic spiced brown ale. I really love all DFH beers. I just wish they’d make all there beers available in six packs. nerdrocker101 (102), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 27, 2009 Draft. Pours a rusty orange with a modest frothy head. Tastes of pumpkin(obviously), cinnamon and sweet malts. The pumpkin isn’t overdone in this beer. Very well balanced.
