A feel of pumpkin is not far behind. Fairly well done flavor. Upfront is mostly roasted spices with pumpkin and cinnamon taking point. The finish morphs into a ginger finish which reminds me of the third day smell of the pumpkin lid that has sucked up flame and candle smoke nightly. For a pumpkin spice ale, I enjoy this. dalepryor (172), Paducah, Kentucky, USA

Caramel, brown sugar, and toast aroma with a nice balance of roasted pumpkin and spices. The aroma has a nice balance to it that many other pumpkin ales don’t have. Not cloying. Not overly spiced. Just nice and balanced. The flavor is predominately allspice, yet not too strong, with a lingering pumpkin pie filling at the finish and light notes of bread, brown sugar and toast. Creamy medium body with soft carbonation and well hidden alcohol. rilbert008 (7), new London, Connecticut, USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 15, 2009 great pumpkin beer , smells mildly of clove n cinnamon and molasses . pours an orange amber with a disappearing head , nutmeg malty sweetness without being cloying pumpkin n hops in the back . finishes clean not too heavy , enoyable ajwilliams (118), , Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Sep 14, 2009 This is the only good pumpkin beer I have ever had. It is exactly what it should be, and I think I can even taste the whipped cream on top. So it isn’t as good as some of Dogfish Head’s other beers, but it I don’t really see how it could be and still be in this style. Bottom line is, if you must have a pumpkin beer, this is what I would recommend. AmazonMatt (284), Panama

In the middle there is an interesting medley of pumpkin pie spices that I haven’t tasted in beer before. Not cloying, which is a definite plus. But I think that there are plenty of better beers from Dogfish Head. Gpnterojd (163), Orangeville, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2009 Pumpkin, ginger, yeast and alcohol on the nose. The flavour has a bit of pumpkin, yeast, grain, ginger, a sweet malt presence and a nudging of hops. Decent. Medium body. Crisp finish. The nutmeg comes out as it warms. Enjoyable, but I would have liked stronger flavours from the spice. gracefullypunk (298), Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 11, 2009 Pours a pale orange with virtually no head. Aromas of nutmeg and brown sugar with a bit of nuttiness. Tastes of toasted sugar, cinnamon, a bit of ginger, but not much pumpkin.
