simonbilyk (42), Maine, USA Sep 4, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours golden brown, the same color as the bottle with a sunset behind it. Aroma is clean and full of pumpkin pie spice. There’s something sharp, like black pepper, in the background. Nice round malt as well. The flavor lasts forever, you swallow and feel it slowly move down to your stomach. Each sip is mouth filling and tastes warm even when served chilled. Some raisin in the background behind all the spices and pumpkin. It’s like a pumpkin pie with a malt flour crust. Flavor doesn’t lessen as you work through the glass, the last sip was just as tasty as the first. Yay beer! MrBeerFanatic (345), jamestown, New York, USA Sep 3, 2009 Pours light bodied amber with a quickly dissolving dense off white head. Aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin, clove, other spices mmmmm. Many of the aromas carry over somewhat but there is an alcoholic presence noticed. Has a combination of pumpkin, nutmeg, clove upfront then goes into a touch of hops, cinnamon and alcohol. Semi sweet with a bitter end. Tasty but the bitter and alcoholic flavors sort of offset the other nice flavors. Just not the sort of qualities I would look for in a seasonal pumpkin ale........ dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Sep 2, 2009 Pour clear brown, with a modest head that faded quickly. I expected a cloudy, bottle conditioned beer. Spice aroma, with cloves dominating. Interesting flavor. Rich and full flavor profile, with a smooth, heavy palate. With a little more hops, this could be outstanding. Pwn3d (1040), Manhattan, New York, USA Aug 30, 2009 Bottle purhased at whole foods & enjoyed at a local theatre down there... Saw "the cove" - good movie if you get the chance to see it. Anyways, being a fan of the style and dfh, I was pretty excited to try this out. Cannot comment on pour as I drank direct from bottle. Maybe I would of enjoyed this better by sampling in a tulip glass but I doubt it would matter much. Taste is cinnamon, ginger, pumkpin pie crusts and a significant alcohol presence. Body was suprisingly light and flavors, while good, left me wanting more. Pumking absolutely destroys this beer and still goes unchallenged for the style. phaleslu (428), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 30, 2009 12 oz. bottle from Ludlow Wines, Cincinnati. Pours rich amber orange with small off white head. Aroma of pumpkin pie- nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar- but not artificial or overwhelming. Flavor follows suit, and once again is very pleasantly understated. Malts make for a smooth, creamy mouthfeel that perfectly offsets the spices. Well balanced, one of the better autumn/pumpkin brews I’ve had. HonkeyBra (1279), Lemont, Illinois, USA Aug 27, 2009 Deep amber pour with some head that diminishes quickly and leaves a ring around glass. Aroma of nutmeg, brown sugar, and pumpkin, in that order. FLavor is malty pumpkin spicey goodness. Pumpkin seems really authentic, even get some of the rind. Well, about as good as a pumpkin beer can get. beernbourbon (236), chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 26, 2009 Bottle. Pour is clear orange with thin white head. Really smells like pumpkin pie and autumn. Also has a nice malty backbone. Flavor is true to nose: malty pumpkin pie...awesome. My favorite pumpkin beer; delivers what it promises. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Aug 17, 2009 Another thanks to daknole. I’ll never get tired of saying that. Nose smells almost like a real pumpkin pie. Flavor is a little sour, brew might be old though. Pretty sexy for a spice/herb/vegetable. Still one of the better pumpkin spice brews I’ve had.
