| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 12, 2009 For a brown ale, this was fairly light in color it poured a clear dark amber. The aroma is mostly malty with a nice cinnamon, spicey background that definately catches your attention but is not overwhelming. The beer drinks mostly like a brown ale with some interesting spiciness in the background and you can definately taste the pumpkin although it is fairly subtle and you have to search for it, especially if the beer is cold, it comes out as the beer warms. There is some chalkiness to this beer that was odd. jerc (3885), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

(3+) Perfumey spice in the aroma mostly blows off, sweet mild fruit notes. (6+) Flavour is thinner than hoped. Mild spices, muted malt and pumpkin. very light bitterness in the finish. Average plus palate. Not but frankly pretty disappoint since I have been wanting to try it for a long time, and it lacks the oomph and richness of more recent examples like ST Pumpking or Michigan Screaming Pumpkin. Bottle shared by GregClow

Poured a white head with and orange color. Smells like pumpkin pie. Tastes of pumpkin and caramel with a medium body. Slightly astringent. Note: 9/7/09 Had a bottle that is a year old. Smoother than my original description. Raised a point in aroma and overall. JaBier (1182), Capital City, Ohio, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Pours a slightly hazy University of Texas burnt orange with a ring of white bubbles for a head. Pumpkin, nutmeg, and cinnamon aroma. More veggie than spice, but without that awful burnt Jack-O-Lantern that some beers get. Nice, spicy taste. The blend gives it a pumpkin bread flavor versus the expected pumpkin pie. More grain and some caramel malt show through. First pumpkin ale that has an ale flavor to it. A tad metallic at times, but easily dismissed. Lower carbonation enhances the flavor. Nice beer. Butters (1637), Virginia, USA

Alcohol in flavor. mcjay (303), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 27, 2008 Nice reddish brown pour with a nice white head. Aroma of a bread, spice, dried vegetables and pumpkin pie. Flavor of brown sugar, cinnamon, mild butter, pumpkin, nutmeg, cloves and corn. A bit of alcohol in the finish, but nothing overwhelming. The mouthfeel is pretty full, but not outstanding. Good beer here. I havent had too many pumpkin beers, but I can say that this is far better than the Southern Tier equivalent.
