sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Oct 7, 2008 the Dan Journal #239. 12oz bottle. Thanks Jerad! Tasted 8/26/08. Filtered and amber with an off-white head. Aromas of allspice and cinnamon. Ginger and toasty malts. Medium bodied with bitter spices and toasty malts. Lotta spice and a woody undertone. Good meld between the spices and base malts. hopson (591), Williamsville, New York, USA Oct 7, 2008 bottle- this has what I feel so many pumpkin beers are lacking: body. When the cold weather hits, who wants a spiced beer that tastes thin and watery. The abv is perfect here, and the spices are well done. I would go to this one again for sure. Narnad (682), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Oct 6, 2008 A very nice amber orange color with no head and low carbonation appears from the bottle when poured. Aroma is very spicy pumpkin pie with a stronger note of what seems to be cinnamon. Flavor starts off with nutmeg, cinnamon, a little bit of pumpkin fruit taste and some slight sweet malt taste and then finishes with a dry taste on the tongue. Mouth feel is just a bit watered down but overall the beer is very nice. It’s nice to see a pumpkin beer that is not overpowering of the spices. CanIHave4Beers (835), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Oct 6, 2008 The best pumpkin beer I’ve had yet. The spices are very nice in the aroma and very well under control in the flavor, it almost reminds me of an oktoberfest in it’s roasty dryness. There is a tasty fruitiness here as well. The beer looks great in the glass with a big white head that leaves lace and a deep orange color. Tripplebrew (486), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Oct 5, 2008 Pours a clear copper brown with light tan head. Aroma is of pumpkin puree and sweet malts.Flavor is pumpkin puree, nutmeg, light undertones of cinnamon. Malts and bread/biscuity notes are also there.Body is light with medium carbonation. Floback (333), Naples, Florida, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a brownish amber body and a small off-white head. The lacing is spotty. The aromas are representative of the special ingredients involved: cinnamon, spices, subtle pumpkin,a nd nutmeg are apparent. Flavors are full, but sweet with more cinnamon, sugar, subtle rounded malts, and baked bread. A subtle presence of hops in the finish add a sufficient bite of bitterness. A medium carbonation and full body are in good balance here. I’ve enjoyed this brew many times throughout the past couple years and always look forward to its release. puggy211 (576), cordova, Tennessee, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle: Pours a light copper color, almost like a red with a small head. This is by far the best brewed pumpkin ale I’ve ever tried, but not the best tasting one. Clearly the ingredients were top quality, and the beer was skillfully brewed. Even at 7% abv this beer masks the alcohol content excellently. I like that this beer tastes more genuine in terms of using real ingredients rather than just an extract mix. I also like the almost cilantro-like taste in the palate, combined with a bitterness not found in most pumpkin ales. Good I like this beer! polomagnifico (532), Saginaw, Michigan, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle. Aroma has notes of pumpkin pie, squash, and sweet malt. Medium brown amber hue with an average sized off-white head that left no lace and mostly diminished. Flavor is sweet with some veggie on the finish but no bitterness. Palate is medium bodied and soft. Not a bad pumpkin brew but average overall.
