durhambeer (1187), Durham, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottle. Clear bright dark orange with creamy off-white head. Nutmeg and cinnamon heavy on the nose at first, but then sweet sugar and vague pumpkin pie. As I drank and breathed in, the cinnamon and nutmeg hit hard, but the taste was much more subtle than expected, more of a sweet brown ale. Very drinkable, which is not something I can say about most pumpkin brews. That said, I’m glad I bought just one... I might try it again when it comes out next year, but that’s about it. DByers (8), , Ohio, USA does not count Sep 25, 2008 Hint of pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg adding subtle taste to this good brown ale. Nothing unbelievable but well crafted for the season. msante79 (782), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Sep 25, 2008 On tap at Galaway Tribes. Pours amber with white head. Aroam is malt, pumkin, cinnamon, brown sugar and nutmeg. Flavor is malty with pumkin, nugmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar and other spices. Nicely balanced and not overdone with the pumkin spices. Nice job. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA Sep 24, 2008 12oz bottle: Fiery amber in the glass with an everlasting white cap that does it’s best to stick on the way down. The nose is quite muddled - some pie spice and dirty yeast are the main notes that pop out. The body opens up more with more discernable hints of prickly cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, caramel and toffee. Light notes of pumpkin linger throughout. A little more meat in the middle and a slight notch up in the spice department would be welcome. I was expected something a little more extreme from DFH. Still, a nicely complex seasonal. brigg (213), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 23, 2008 (bottle) Clear amber body, and a small light head. Mildly spicy nose with malt, sugar. Flavor is mostly spices but pretty smooth. More hoppy and less malty than I expected, though only a mild bitterness. Moderately carbonated and medium bodied. The pumpkin spice doesn’t hit you over the head, it is more mild than that and I think better for it, more drinkable. Unique69crazy (119), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 23, 2008 Like drinking spiced cider with a small kick. Alcohol is well-disguised. The pumpkin isn’t as well distributed as I would expect. Cinnamon and nutmeg hold a great deal of share when you sit back and enjoy this brew. Good cider like aroma with a solid orange color. Would drink another 4 pk before this goes out of season awiseman01 (318), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Sep 23, 2008 Updated: Sep 22, 2009Bottle, shared w/ danielcurtis81. Great festive ale. Lots of cinnamon and spice. Tastes like drinking pumpkin pie filling, just not as thick. one of the better pumpkin ales I’ve had.
On tap at Stone ƙ/21/09). Pours clear/golder with thin fading head. Lots of spice on the nose but no pumpkin yet. Nice carbonated spicy, pumpkin taste with a sweet, clean finish. Totally Wonderful!!! TheSponge (272), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Sep 23, 2008 12 oz. bottle purchased at Central Market in Mill Creek, WA. Pours a dark orange color with an off-white head. Aroma: Pumpkin (duh), brown sugar, cinnamon, and spices. Flavor: The same as the aromas, perfectly balanced...not too heavy with the pumpkin as with other pumpkin ales. In other words, excellent.
