The usual spices and cloves but nothing overpowering on the nose. Fuller bodied and nothing thin about it with a nice malt to blend in with the spices. One of the better pumpkins on the market. Aroma started off as a spicy pumpkin pie flavor, but gradually turned into just bitter alcohol. Taste was like eating a fatass slice of sugary pumpkin pie, but the more of the beer you drank the more the alcohol came out. By the end, it was all alcohol. That’s where this beer went wrong, too much alcohol. It really took away from the enjoyment. durhambeer (1201), Durham, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Bottle. Clear bright dark orange with creamy off-white head. Nutmeg and cinnamon heavy on the nose at first, but then sweet sugar and vague pumpkin pie. As I drank and breathed in, the cinnamon and nutmeg hit hard, but the taste was much more subtle than expected, more of a sweet brown ale. Very drinkable, which is not something I can say about most pumpkin brews. That said, I’m glad I bought just one... I might try it again when it comes out next year, but that’s about it. Nothing unbelievable but well crafted for the season. msante79 (814), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA

Aroam is malt, pumkin, cinnamon, brown sugar and nutmeg. Flavor is malty with pumkin, nugmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar and other spices. Nicely balanced and not overdone with the pumkin spices. Nice job. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA

The nose is quite muddled - some pie spice and dirty yeast are the main notes that pop out. The body opens up more with more discernable hints of prickly cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, caramel and toffee. Light notes of pumpkin linger throughout. A little more meat in the middle and a slight notch up in the spice department would be welcome. I was expected something a little more extreme from DFH. Still, a nicely complex seasonal. brigg (215), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 23, 2008 (bottle) Clear amber body, and a small light head. Mildly spicy nose with malt, sugar. Flavor is mostly spices but pretty smooth. More hoppy and less malty than I expected, though only a mild bitterness. Moderately carbonated and medium bodied. The pumpkin spice doesn’t hit you over the head, it is more mild than that and I think better for it, more drinkable.
