sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 9, 2008 Pours copperish, off-white head.
Aroma of pumpkin and spices that usually come with such beers; cinnamon and nutmeg.
Taste, pumpkin, good amount of spices and sugary malts. The pumpkin stays very enjoyable and on the low side.
The malt and sugar really come to the forefront, followed by the pumpkin, covered with the tingly touch of the spices (mostly cinnamon).
Very drinkable, has a good kick to it and a good abv. Vas19 (293), Maryland, USA Sep 9, 2008 Pours orange red with a thin white head. Aroma of noticeable cinnamon and nutmeg aromas with a malty wheat component as well. Great cinnamon and spice flavor. Only a slight hint of pumpkin. A unique and enjoyable brew, but something is slightly out of balance. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Sep 9, 2008 Pours a dark orange amber with little off-white head. Almost barley wine like aroma, but less sweet caramel and more herbal spicy scents. Heavily spiced beer. Not much sweetness at all. I taste cinnamon, nutmeg, and not pumpkin directly but definitely an over-riding vegetal taste. Very smooth and crisp. Pretty enjoyable actually. NJJereme (261), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA Sep 9, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours an amber color with a light white head. Hints of nutmeg and slightly sugary, primarily a malty aroma and taste. Perhaps expected more of a hoppy/ale flavor and texture. Light to medium bodied. The spices are pretty muted. Not bad for a change of pace. grimreeser (795), Minnesota, USA Sep 9, 2008 Pours a lightish amber with a decent head. Aroma of pumpkin, brown sugar, cinnamon. Decent sweetness. kassner (429), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 9, 2008 Bottle from 3 Sons. Nice odor of spices, amber color, nice head and lacing. Spices linger after initial carbonation and mild malt flavors. specksnreds (55), USA Sep 9, 2008 Clear pour with little head. A little more spice than last year’s, but it’s still the only pumpkin ale I like. A little thin on the mouth feel, but still an outstanding beer. I’m a sucker for DFH brews. abcfan (244), New Jersey, USA Sep 8, 2008 Decent brew, but pales in comparison to the "King". Spicy pumpkin aroma, pours orange with creamy off-white head. decent flavor to this one, a little bit of spice, but nothing overwhelming.
