musher (5), Delaware, Ohio, USA does not count Sep 5, 2008 Pours extremely clear. Overly filtered. Aroma is not very good but not horrible. Taste is awful. Such a disgrace to the style. If you want a good pumpkin ale try Weyerbacher’s imperial pumpkin. Beerman6686 (1264), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pours a brownish amber color with an off white head. Aroma is of lots of brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmug. Flavor is really sweet brown sugar, which lay a nice background to the added spices. Pretty good for a pumpkin beer. KawaBomber (193), New Jersey, USA Sep 4, 2008 12oz Bottle: Clear amber w/ a small off-white head. Tiny bubbles dance from the bottom of the galss encouraging me to just drink already, aroma first though. Sugar pops out first followed by spices. Nutmeg, all-spice, blah, blah, blah. Flavor is pretty much pumpkin pie spices minus the pumpkin, which is what always pisses me off about this beer. More pumpkin flavor & this thing would be incredible, it’s a good beer. Very smooth & yes, good, but every year I have the same thought...more pumpkin! Just enough that you can actually taste it...ah, forget it... fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 4, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of spices and pumpkin, flavor the same. Pretty good beer, but just not enough of those spices and pumpkin to make it a great PUMPKIN beer. 17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 4, 2008 Updated: Sep 6, 2008Pours a clear dark amber/copper color with a medium off-white creamy foam on top. Lots of pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg in the aroma with a weak hint of a light malt base. Fuller mouthful than I was expecting from the aroma and appearance, plus I’m always skeptical when DFH says "full-bodied" on its label. Body is medium/full and quite creamy with fluffy carbonation. Flavor is lots of pumpkin and spice, exactly as it smells, the malt is pretty average and doesn’t add much to the flavor... instead of being a part of the beer it’s like a middle of the road english bitter with pumpkin pie flavoring. Quite a bit of alcohol in the flavor and finish as well. A pretty decent offering. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Sep 2, 2008 Bottle. Aroma is spice more then pumpkin. taste was a nice combination of spices and pumpkin. A slight taste of cinnamon and nutmeg. Over all a decent seasonal brew. amc3000 (46), houston, Texas, USA Sep 2, 2008 fresh bottle 08.
I enjoy a good seasonal and this is certainly a good start to the fall season.
aroma is alcohol and spiciness ,flavor is subtle with nutmeg and alcohol , but not too much pumpkin on my taste buds.Easy to drink and not overly sweet. Still a little bitterness on the tail end.
