beergeek86 (33), Clarksville, Maryland, USA Mar 22, 2008 had it on tap at frisco grille in columbia, md. amazing. best pumpkin beer out there. actually tastes like pumpkin, unlike other "pumpkin" beers that just taste like pumpkin pie spice, but seem to lack the pumpkin itself all together. cinnamon and cloves were well balanced. tastes like pumpkin pie. alcohol is present in the flavor but well balanced. very satisfying would definitely have again. probably my favorite dogfish head beer. travita (1861), Frisco, Texas, USA Mar 21, 2008 Great Pumpkin smell and flavor. Orange in color with a thin white lacy head. Sweet but not overally so. Well done.
robbmotiwalla (50), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Mar 20, 2008 smells spicy and tastes spicy, perhaps some molasses as well. the pumpkin comes through quite nicely and remains on the tongue. a good beer for a change of pace BuckeyeSammy (454), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Mar 12, 2008 Updated: Mar 7, 2009Aged this one six months. Fucking great. So well balanced. Copper color, almost no head, minimal lacing. Aroma of cloves, spice. Nicely carbonated, pumpkin spice and nutmeg on the tongue. Best punkin seasonal beer.. period. bma4573 (136), Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA Mar 9, 2008 Pours a ruby/copper color with white lacey head. Great nutmeg and cinnamon aroma and a spiced pumpkin flavor, my favorite pumpkin beer so far. Can’t wait for it to come out again. StFun (535), Indiana, USA Mar 4, 2008 Very spicey. Pours orange, thin lacing. Aroma is dominated by spice. Flavor is dominated by spice. Doesn’t really taste like pumpkin, more just like spice. Cinnamon and nutmeg (as another poster said) ale. Still interested in trying other pumpkin beers though. CP (124), USA Feb 26, 2008 A little too spicy and acidic but not bad at all. The pumpkin flavor is there but not overbearing. Its kinda like a brown ale pouring on on a loaf of pumpkin bread. Not a beer I would like all the time, but good to have every year. If only this was pumpkin stout!. Hoptagon (132), Arlington, Virginia, USA Feb 17, 2008 12 oz. bottle. As has been my usual experience with this beer, the pour is dark amber with little to no head. Aroma brings to mind a fresh pumpkin pie with cinnamon, pumpkin and nutmeg dominating. The flavor is a bit more subdued, one of the things I like about this beer is that the pumpkin is not overdone. It complements the beer, but doesn’t overpower it. Body is medium and the malts hold up well behind all the spices. Perfect fall beer.
