layyze (28), Durham, North Carolina, USA Oct 22, 2007 I love pumpkin spice beer, and this is one of my favorite pumpkins. Aroma strong of pumpkins, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The taste is much the same with marked sweetness. The 7% alcohol is not noticed. Goes down very smooth. Driftwood6 (214), USA Oct 21, 2007 On tap at Brixie’s, Brookfield IL. You can’t miss the pumpkin flavor-- but there’s nothing else to back it up. It tastes like a weak beer that add pumpkin spices added to it so it wouldn’t be a total waste. The spice needs to blend in with some more malt or hops-- just nothing going on with this beer. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Oct 20, 2007 12 oz bottle from Quake1028; You can smell the pumplin (or is that "PUNKIN") as you open the cap, nose of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and sweet caramel (must be the brown sugar caramelized?) burnt orange with a very small beige head; flavor features the nutmeg, then the pumpkin, and cinnamon; the cinnamon and a slight bit of alcohol make a nice finish. Good but not great. Nice seasonal! docsteigs (139), USA Oct 19, 2007 Good forwhat it was but not what I’d order again in the craft-brew emporium that is Dogfish! emobassfoo (178), Webster, New York, USA Oct 19, 2007 Notes: Crystal clear amber with an off-white head that pretty much completely disappears. Cloves, all-spice and brown sugar/molasses in the aroma. Pretty fragrant. Flavor is very similar to aroma but builds up into an intense aftertaste. Almost too strong. Medium bodied but the alcohol is detectable. It’s tasty, I might have liked it a bit colder; it’s a bit different from a majority of other pumpkin ales, but worth a try. Zinister (1198), Houston, Texas, USA Oct 19, 2007 Aromas of malt, caramel and some soft winter spices. Flavor is very mild pumpkin, but well balanced. Good mix of allspice, nutmeg and cooked cinnamon. Solid pumpkin beer. yesyouam (587), Fairport, New York, USA Oct 16, 2007 Punkin Ale is a very clear amber ale with a small off-white head that vanishes quickly. It’s quite sparking. It smells spicy! It’s sweet cinnamon rolls with some kind of fruity wooden element, corriander and perhaps cherry. It’s a very strong aroma. It’s medium-bodied and soft with a large and sparse carbonation. It’s syrupy and it leaves the lips and tongue a bit sticky. It boasts a strong and smooth flavor. The flavors are very blended. It’s something between garam masala and mole. The malt is a little sweet and a little tart. The aftertaste is alcohol, or black pepper or allspice. It’s almost like cake with a spiced liqueur poured on it. This seems like it’s in the spirit of Bush de Noel but with an autumn flare. Good stuff. Consider this 4-pack punished! kreepindeth (405), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA Oct 16, 2007 Aroma of nutmeg, allspice, pumpkin pie. Tastes of the spice right up from stingy nutmeg and allspice fading into pumpkin meat and then to a bready, biscuity crusty malt flavor.
