pressboxjoe (69), , New Jersey, USA Oct 22, 2009 Attractive and warming. I feel in past years the spices have been more well defined, and the bitterness balanced better. Still one of my favorite seasonal ales and one of my favorite DFH offerings. MrChopin (622), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 21, 2009 Fiery amber, thin foamy white head. Musty nose of dirty malt, light spice, sugary no detectable pumpkin. Flavor is dirty, malty, and very sweet, also lightly medicinal, still no pumpkin. Sticky and sharply bitter finish. Wouldn’t say this is a spice beer, not even that it’s a decent beer. yemenmocha (344), Glendale, Arizona, USA Oct 21, 2009 Pours a medium amber with light tan head. Nose has the usual suspects of pumpkin and miscellaneous holiday spices. Reminds me of holiday cookies. On the palate the spices do a bit too much over the pumpkin for me, leaving the pumpkin and traditional brown ale characteristics in the backseat. dand645 (75), Bayonne, New Jersey, USA Oct 21, 2009 tons of pumpkin pie spice(cinnamon, clove, nutmeg) a little creamy...lacking on the actual punkin livelaughlovep (96), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Oct 20, 2009 This is what I like in a pumpkin beer. Not too pronounced on the pumpkin, a little bitter, a little spice (nutmeg, clove) and a bit of caramel malt. Easy and delicious drinker. obguthr (987), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Oct 18, 2009 Barley malt with nutmeg and clove aroma. Clear dark gold, thin head. The flavor is about a 60/40 pumpkin/clove. Mulberry finish. Alcohol content obvious, but without seeming perfumey. Improves with warming. djd07 (724), Houston, Texas, USA Oct 17, 2009 Bottle as shown. Pours a copper orange with a large creamy off white head that leaves good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a strong spice and cinnamon and light malt. Thin mouthfeel with a light caramel malt with pumpkin, cinnamon, and a nice spicy finish. Easy to drink, hiding the alcohol well, a very good Spice from Dogfish Head. RickTStiles (14), New York, USA Oct 14, 2009 Poured from 12 oz. bottle into lager glass. Clear orange with a small fizzy head. Aroma is pumpkin pie with cloves and some citrus. Pumpkin and spice in the nose and body with a warm finish that ends with the same citrus it began with. Very enjoyable but I might keep looking for a standby fall beer.
