| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 11, 2009 This is the best pumpkin ale I have had! The spices etc are not overwhelming, the pumpkin flavor is there, johnnyoski (160), Macomb, Michigan, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 11, 2009 Bottle. Clear amber collor with a very small off white head. Cinnamon, pumpkin and nutmeg aroma. Cinnamon, pumpkin and sweet dough flavors. Finishes with a nutmeg bitterness with a slight trace of alohol. Syrupy texture and lively carbonation. A good one to sip during the cool Fall months. satan165 (562), River Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 11, 2009 aroma is strong note of cinnamon and other intangible spice. appearance is burnt orange with very little carb, color seems very appropriate. flavor is caramel malt muddled with heavy spice and little else. palate is flat, dry and cold: in a way sessionable and in a way offensive. points for making 7% this undetectable. daleharshman (186), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 11, 2009 Had two times recently -- bottle from Dogfish Head pub in Gaithersburg, Maryland and bottle locally from Beverages 4 Less ($3.29). Pours a clear dark amber-orange with small white head. Aroma has quite a bit of pumpkin pie spice (nutmeg, allspice), but no detectable aroma of pumpkins. The spice becomes stronger in the flavor and there are smoky pumpkin and brown sugar flavors as well. There is a very light bitterness in the finish which also includes a re-emergence of cinnamon. This is good but I actually might like if it was a bit sweeter. thehinge (244), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 10, 2009 This nutmeg, spice and hop combination works exceptionally well. Sweet/bitter combo. But, I’ve always felt DFH does amazing things with tastes in their ales. alagnak (327), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 10, 2009 Nose is really nice. Liquid pumpkin pie with a touch of ale yeast and malt. Flavor is a little harsh given the soft and inviting nose. Bitter malt and nutmeg/clove, with a slightly boozy finsh. This one smelled awesome, but fell apart a little bit. Drinkable. watson1977 (265), , Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2009 pours a very clear deep orange/amber color with a medium white head. aroma is fairly spicy with nutmeg and cinnamon, a hint of pumpkin, and a touch of alcohol. flavor is of spicy pumpkin pie balanced with mild hoppiness. very bubbly mouthfeel and a hoppy and slightly dry lingering finish that has a touch of spices. very enjoyable pumpkin beer that is mildly warming. beerguy101 (3862), Newark, California, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Oct 8, 2009 Sampled on 10/2/2009. This spiced ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to no head. The aroma is malty, fruity and a touch spicy. A medium to light bodied spiced ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are floral. Not a lot of pumpkin, not a lot of spices either. Not a whole lot of ANYTHING here. Some malt, some carbonation and perhaps something resembling pumpkin at the finish, but that’s about all. Maybe I need to try a different batch, because this one was a poor excuse for a pumpkin beer. There is nothing bad here, but there is no flavor either. Sorry DFH this one is a big fail. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
