Poured from bottle. Pours a slightly reddish orange color. Aromas of pumpkin - earthy, vegetable, squash - followed by subtle notes of cinnamon and nutmeg w/ nutmeg more prominent. Tastes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, malt and a hint of brown sugar. Finish is long and pleasant. If this doesn’t say fall, I don’t know what does.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. The aroma starts out with a sweet, bright butterscotch character along with a bit of a funk to it. This gives way to something more vegetal in nature which then moves to cooked sugar / caramel or toffee with a secondary note of candy sugar. As it warms up, the pumpkin spice comes through with notes of pumpkin pie. It pours a crystal clear, effervescent copper orange color with a foamy, off-white head that retains a medium ring and a fuzzy, near-full surface. A light, messy lace is left on the glass. The taste is a nice balance of medium sweet and bitter. The oily beer has a light, soft fizz to it to accompany the medium / medium-light body. The flavor is bready with a caramel and roasted pumpkin note. The pumpkn comes through a bit more as the beer warms. The finish is slightly burnt with mostly roasted sugar and a light spiciness to it. The aftertaste takes on mellow notes of cacao and dark spice and, very late, pie crust (and maybe some pumpkin pie filling).

Pours an orangish amber color with a small white head. Aroma of pumpkin and spices. Cinnamon and pumpkin flavor with other spices. Medium bodied. Pretty good among pumpkin beers.

TheCaptMatey (67) - Ohio, USA - OCT 20, 2014
Poured a gold to amber colour with a white head. Decent aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg spices and pumpkin. This brew offers a nice balance of spice and pumpkin flavores, but is not very potent as the root ale is easily detectable with some bitterness. A good take on the style.

better than other pumpkin ales i’ve tried, but that’s because the others suck. this is one of DFH’s weaker offerings. still pretty good. there’s a bitter brown ale behind the pumpkin, but if you really like pumpkin, this one’s not enough for you. a tiny bit underwhelming, but worth trying. 9/09- after having on tap and cask conditioned (4+), both of which really bring out the pumpkin, I’m no longer underwhelmed. On cask it’s fantastic. Either way (even in the bottle) a very good seasonal brew, but the pumpkin really comes out more on tap."

Spicy flavors dominate with clove and nutmeg. Clearish orange with no head - sherry like. Taste is spice dominated, like all of these types. Moderate bitterness with some spritzy carbonation aspects on the end.

I love the balance of spice with the subtle pumpkin flavor. The body is light enough that you can enjoy several without feeling too full. This is a very well balanced beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It pours a dark golden with tinges of orange. The head has orange tinges as well. There is little lacing. The is a strong aroma of allspice, nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnamon, and tinges of brown sugar. It has a strong cinnamon, spices, brown sugar, and pumpkin, mixed with malts.
