Notes of pumpkin, nutmeg, and other spices were there. The flavor is a strong spicy pumpkin blast. A nice treat for the season. cfranz (261), Acton, Massachusetts, USA

Nice color and texture, the punkin was not overwhelming, but complemented the ale. Did not detect much of the spices, which did not inhibit my enjoyment of the beer. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 1, 2005 Pours a really nice looking, clear bright amber/red color with a 1/4 inch head that quickly fades to a thin ring, with only minimal lacing. Would get a a higher rating here if it had a little more head to it.
Smell; smells of cinnamon, a bit of nutmeg, pumpkin. There’s some other spices in there that I can’t put a finger on.
Taste; there’s definitely pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and maybe some allspice. Even with all of the spices in this beer it’s not as overwhelmingly sweet as some other pumpkin ales I’ve had. Mouthfeel was a litlle thin, and there’s not much carbonation. Kudos to DFH for making a pumpkin beer that actually tastes like it’s a beer.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 26, 2006 Pours a clear medium/dark amber with a thin white head. Aroma is of alcohol mixed with nutmeg and clove or allspice. In the mouth, it’s more interesting than expected, with a stronger pumpkin taste and not a lot of sweetness. Slightly thick on the tongue with ample carbonation. Not as good as the Great Pumpkin, but enjoyable. sneagrams3 (1764), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Filtered and amber with an off-white head. Aromas of allspice and cinnamon. Ginger and toasty malts. Medium bodied with bitter spices and toasty malts. Lotta spice and a woody undertone. Good meld between the spices and base malts. sleepingbear (27), Lake Leelanau - Detroit, Michigan, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 28, 2006 Quite the interesting brew for my 100th rated beer! A nose that is everything you would expect from the bottle: cinnamon, pumpking, and a blended collection of spices. I was expecting sweet, and there was some of that, but the sweetness was amply balanced by the alcohol so that neither was overwhelming. Smooth across the tongue, the nutmeg and cinnamon are easy to pick out, with subdued pumpkin and sugar bringing up the rear. All in all, quite a drinkable brew! punkrkr27 (654), Berkley, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 15, 2009 Copper pour with a nice dense, 1 finger, white head. Caramel, brown sugar, and toast aroma with a nice balance of roasted pumpkin and spices. The aroma has a nice balance to it that many other pumpkin ales don’t have. Not cloying. Not overly spiced. Just nice and balanced. The flavor is predominately allspice, yet not too strong, with a lingering pumpkin pie filling at the finish and light notes of bread, brown sugar and toast. Creamy medium body with soft carbonation and well hidden alcohol.
