Hoptagon (60), Arlington, Virginia, USA Feb 17, 2008 12 oz. bottle. As has been my usual experience with this beer, the pour is dark amber with little to no head. Aroma brings to mind a fresh pumpkin pie with cinnamon, pumpkin and nutmeg dominating. The flavor is a bit more subdued, one of the things I like about this beer is that the pumpkin is not overdone. It complements the beer, but doesn’t overpower it. Body is medium and the malts hold up well behind all the spices. Perfect fall beer.
EricE (261), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Oct 12, 2008 Clear orange brown pour with a thin white head. Malt aroma with hints of pumpkin and spice - cinnamon nutmeg, etc. Bitter clove flavor. A bit watery with hints of banana, spice, and smoke. Alcohol to finish. Flavors are generally pretty weak and overall its a pretty bland beer. Doon (56), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 12, 2008 On Tap at Delux burger in PHX. Served in a pilsner glass :( Not quite what I was expecting. I’ve had several good pumpkin ales, and several REALLY bad ones...this one is middle of the road. Pours a dark amber color, no head on my beer....the spice flavor was somewhat overpowered by the alcohol. Very light on the pumpkin flavor. Maybe it was a bad keg, or maybe I was drunk.... j12601 (9), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA does not count Oct 11, 2008 A crystal clear orange with a 1.5 inch head that quickly reduced to half a inch, and then to nothing after the first sip. Less spice on the nose than I was expecting, but still faint hints of pumpkin pie spices. The spices come through a bit more on the finish along with a bit of the brown sugar. Body is rich and silky with lots of very fine carbonation. golubj (1037), Redwood City, California, USA Oct 11, 2008 draft at city beer. dull amber pour w some beige head. aroma is pumpkin, spice and sweet bubblegum. flavor is the same, a little vegetal. sort of a lot of carbonation. esjaygee (830), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Oct 11, 2008 Hazy orange-amber with a thin white head. Aroma of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon and brown sugar. Taste of brown sugar, nutmeg, allspice, nuts and pumpkin. Finishes spicy with some allspice in there. One of the better pumpkin beers I’ve tried, reminiscent of pumpkin more than most others.
