Aroma is sweet, very sweet, with brown sugar and dried fruits (yes, raisins), maybe some hints of vanilla. Sweet flavor, fruity, warming, but not cloying. I had this once before and thought it was overly sweet, but this time it was much more enjoyable. I want another one of these right now. nickd717 (1415), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 29, 2009 It’s got the complexity, but the flavor didn’t totally do it for me. Amber color, nice off-white head, fruity aroma. Vinous flavor with raisins and sweet malt. Some hop bitterness. Smooth palate. Not bad, but not one of the Head’s best in my opinion. Gotta give it to them for the clever raisin/raison pun though. You rascals! MishkinBeer (65), , New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 26, 2009 The color of this beer is truly beautiful with its dark red complexion. The head is slim and tan in appearance. Along with the sugars and raisins, there is a certain coffee texture involved as well. The feel going down is sweet and smooth. Would probably go well with chocolate after dinner. The alcohol content is high, but not dominating by any means. The aftertaste leaves some of the coffee flavor and a buzz on your tongue. A little more hoppiness might have been nice. Still, this is a delightful ale indeed. osu97gp (181), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 24, 2009 12 oz bottle. dark amber color, brilliantly clear. Nice off white foamy creamy head. Aroma is a spicy bready, citrus. Flavor is a blend of malt and fruit sweetness upfront, ending in a nice hop bitterness. There is a spicy note inbetween. The hop bitterness mellows out and there is a nice sweet aftertaste. dzzz333 (21), Elkton, Maryland, USA

The look and bouquet are spot on and the taste it outstanding. The fruits and malts blend perfectly to create and elixir that’s hard to beat. Ryan82SM (278), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 16, 2009 Woah, aroma to the fore. This thing smells like a garden of fresh fruit, if that makes any sense. Appearance is burnt red with slightly carbonated head. Warm and sugary (but not overly sweet) flavor, with a ripe, fruity alcohol tinge. Lively head, with alcohol sensation hanging around until the end. I wish I always had a bottle of this waiting in my fridge.
