Deep mahogany pour. Sweet aroma, definitely notice the raisins. Somewhat malty. A unique brew, but stands out as one of DFHs better beers

A very different brew with a raison/grape taste, its more like a wine and beer mixed, not horrible really just too much of a wine feel for me

Most overrated bitter piece of swill I ever has the misfortune to buy. Waste of ten bucks. All you so called beer experts are loony. You all probably hate this beer but rate it high like sheep because this is the current brewery in fashion.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours dark copper with a tan head that dissipates quickly to a thin cap. Aroma is caramel and raisin along with a earthy, musty component; also a bit metallic. Taste is sugary sweet with the raisin flavor coming through complemented by the caramel. Alcohol is present is the taste. Finish is slightly bitter and dry. Carbonation was crisp and the body medium. Interesting beer, but probably not a regular for me.

@ Havregatan. Flaska från Kihoskh, Köpenhamn. Fruktig, rejält söt karamell, russin, en aning vinös, fyllig. Fruktig och torr avslutning.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A very good Belgian Strong ale. Had in tap at Party's in Highlands Ranch. Medium head, but quickly dissipates quickly. A dark copper color gives it a rich look. A nice bubbly carbonation makes this a fun brew to drink. A nice bite at the finish. Tastes of caramel and slightly bitter hops.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour and initial impressions:
Wonderfully dark and has a deep copper color. The quickly dissipating head was light tan in color. The color does remind me of a dark rich mahogany which is what Dogfish referred to this ale as.
Scent and aromas:
It smells sugary and sweet with a strong scent of raisins or grapes. There is a presence of oak and malt and slightly bitter overall. The presence of alcohol makes itself known.
The taste is sugary and sweet much like it smells, there is an underlying taste threaded throughout the complexity of the beer that might be coming from the beet sugars. I get a spice note in there as well. The scent and smell translates nicely to the taste. To me I get more of a grape taste than raisins (yes I realize the correlation between grapes and raisins), but it has the taste of a lot of other Dogfish beers that specifically mention that grapes were included in their ingredient bill.
I really enjoy this beer, but isn’t something I see myself enjoying on a very regular basis, it is rich, complex and very enjoyable which makes me want to keep it for an “every once in a while” sort of occasion. This is a beer that is a must try for sure

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours more red than brown with a thin carbonated head which lasts only seconds. Aroma is of sweet raisins, some plum, dark fruit but not very thick. Taste is a very pleasant malt of medium strength, followed by thin plum and raisin finishing to sugar. It is very light on the palate, especially compared to any other beer I’ve had that hits the same flavors. Overall not bad, wish the flavor had some more umph to it
