4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20 LeRose (73) - Massachusetts, USA - OCT 31, 2012Bottle. Great amber color, nice tan head decent lacing. Get the yeast and raisins up front. Really tasty - clean, lots of flavor, maybe a little caramel or coffee hint to it. Love the grape/raisin flavor and find this a refreshing beer despite the 8% ABV. I can see where it could be polarizing with the love/hate thing going on.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Westchesterco (249) - mclean, Virginia, USA - MAY 18, 2013
Appearance. Reddish brown. Aroma malty with raisin overtones taste sweet cherries and raisin then long on the palate with a sting bitter flavor

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Claymeister (55) - USA - MAY 14, 2013
12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a good size beige head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is malty and caramel with a slight hint of raisins. Medium sweet taste that hides the 8% ABV nicely. Goes down smoothly and a nice finish. I liked this one and would have it again and again. Good Job Dogfish Head.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 philipmeese (53) - Rowayton, Connecticut, USA - MAY 11, 2013
12oz bottle. Pours clear dark brown with thin head. Aroma big caramel/sweet choco/coffee. Flavor driven by medium foamy body, sweet, choco and syrupy smooth. Sweetness mellows in a well behaved way to a smooth even aftertaste. Overall this is too sweet a beer for me/ but does not lack character.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 paulvanpelt (162) - Reusel, NETHERLANDS - MAY 7, 2013
Amberbruin, nauwelijks schuim. Moutig, licht gebrand. Bitterzoet. Waterig, weinig body. Niet speciaal in deze stijl.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Steverus0 (68) - Shreveport, Louisiana, USA - MAY 5, 2013
A really interesting brew for one also so drinkable, this beverage will certainly skew your perception of other beers.
The apparent plum raisin character isn't overbearing, but present in sufficient quantity. Pleasant mouthfeel, but the malts seem somewhat out of balance

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 OKplus (355) - Oklahoma, USA - APR 30, 2013
A - Pours a dark red amber. An off-white head sinks quickly
S - Woody roasted malt, toasted toffee, earthy bark.
T - Super sweet candy malt, dark fruit preserves, spice towards the middle. I keep getting NyQuil. The alcohol is there and doesn’t play well with the rest of the components.
M - Low carbonation, thin watered down syrupy feel.
I wanted to like this more than I did. It is an interesting beer but I couldn’t help thinking of NyQuil the whole time. The syrupy malt drowned out everything except the alcohol.

Deep mahogany pour. Sweet aroma, definitely notice the raisins. Somewhat malty. A unique brew, but stands out as one of DFHs better beers

3.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 fernans (23) - Rhode Island, USA - APR 23, 2013
This a very nice interpretation of a Belgian strong ale. Taste a rich mix of raisins and cherries. Sweet but not over the top. More sessionable than you’d think considering the high Abv. Cheers!
