I like most of Dogfish Head’s products, but I just can’t share the love for this one. Pours an amber color with a very thin, quickly dissipating head. It has a mild aroma that is tinged with coffee, malt and raisin. Has a flavor that starts out mildly sweet but fades into a bitter taste with lots of coffee flavor. Not a bad beer per se, but I was expecting a lot more.

12oz bottle from Total Wine (Tampa, FL). Pours a deep mahogany read brown with a off-white head that settles quickly. Aroma is sweet candy sugar, malt, molasses, dark ripe fruit and hints of roasted coffee. Flavor is much of the same with sweet malt notes, candy sugar, ripe dark fruit and barley notes. Finish is sweet and slightly lingering with vague coffee notes. Medium-bodied.

Bottle. Pours a wonderful deep dark cherry red with a small/medium light brown head. Aroma is a smokey dark fruit with some Belgian yeast and alcohol. Flavor contains raisins and other dark fruit, sweet and roasted malts. A little more smokey/roasted flavor than what I expected from a Belgian Strong Ale, but was still complex and enjoyable.

Clear mahogany with a medium brown head. Aroma of raisons, alcohol, toasted malts, nuts and mild smoke. Taste of roasted malts, smoke, nuts, sugar, raisons and mild alcohol. Dry finish - akin to green grapes - that is somewhat fruity with a grainy texture. Interesting and definitely dogfish head.

A good Belian Strong ale from the Dogfish Head brewing company. Never have been dissapointed by this brewer and may never. Pours nice and dark, good aroma of fruitiful hints. Smooth with a good flavor. I had to take a couple of drinks of this one to finalize my findings but I am very impressed. Was a bit weary of it at first but will for sure have to have again.

Pours dark with almost no head... very strong fruity aroma with burnt malts... taste is mildly sweet but leaves a nice bitter after taste...
