Jan 21, 2009 Pours a hazy copper color from the bottle with a trim beige head. Smells and tastes of brown sugar, raisins, and maple syrup. Leaves a bitter taste on the finish that I assume is associated with the beet sugar. Nice.

Jan 17, 2009 Bottle. Hazy red/brown color with absolutely no head. Aroma is malt, brown sugar, raisins. Flavor is raisins, brown sugar, molasses and alcohol.
When it enters the mouth it is bitter. Afterwards it becomes sweet. Very good beer.

Jan 14, 2009 Pours brownish orange with and oily head. Aroma is raisins, ripe fruits, brown sugar, and caramel. Taste is ripe fruit, raisins, brown sugar, and hot alcohol. Very sweet and thick mouthfeel. A nice sipper.

Jan 7, 2009 12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy orange color with a medium head. Low head retention and lacing. Very malty aroma dominated by raisins and brown sugar along with citrus and some other fruits. Taste is raisins, brown sugar, molasses. Full bodied and quite warm from the alcohol.

Dec 29, 2008 Bottle. Thanks to hopdog for sending this as a bonus in recent trade. Beautiful clean copper color. Thick and sticky vanilla head that lasts throughout tasting. Lovely, complex aroma of raisin, caramel toffee and apple, with a bit of nutmeg. Robust flavor that starts with a big, sweet malty punch, and leaves a lingering raisin tone. Quite sweet, but it goes well with the high alcohol content. Thick body and a warming finish. This one will knock your head around a bit after one 12oz bottle. Really good. Probably best served as an aperitif.
