Smells and tastes of brown sugar, raisins, and maple syrup. Leaves a bitter taste on the finish that I assume is associated with the beet sugar. Nice. hallinghansen (265), Odense SV, Denmark

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 29, 2008 Bottle. Thanks to hopdog for sending this as a bonus in recent trade. Beautiful clean copper color. Thick and sticky vanilla head that lasts throughout tasting. Lovely, complex aroma of raisin, caramel toffee and apple, with a bit of nutmeg. Robust flavor that starts with a big, sweet malty punch, and leaves a lingering raisin tone. Quite sweet, but it goes well with the high alcohol content. Thick body and a warming finish. This one will knock your head around a bit after one 12oz bottle. Really good. Probably best served as an aperitif.
