At the time we tried this, we were in no shape to rate or remember it. Poured a bog water brown color; murky. Very little head, despite a fairly vigorous pour. Aroma was of raisins, alcohol, sugar, dark fruit and a hint of chocolate. Definitely a sipper, but pretty well hidden. Flavor of raisins, dark fruit, and sugary sweetness. Good, but wouldn’t drink it regularly due to the alcohol. rsauermann (38), Arlington, Texas, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Pours a clear burgundy brown with a modest head generated by an aggressive pour.
Nose is of raisins, dates and alcohol.
Taste is of raisins, figs, hops, and alcohol.
Not as much carbonation as I’d like, coats the mouth; vey full bodied.
Drinkability good as a slow sipper. MrYuk (21), Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 1, 2008 12oz bottle from Liquid solutions. Poured a murky swamp water brown. Virtually no head to speak of, no lacing either. Nose of raisins, candied dark fruits and a little boozy. A little sweeter than I would have guessed. A great, very smooth and drinkable beer from top to bottom. I will definitely try again if I can get my hands on another bottle. Goodgrief (1149), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Dec. 2005 - This is so unlike beer it’s hard to rate. Pour looked like apple cider with a wee little head, no lacing (but at that abv, that’s expected). Aroma was sweet raisin/grape. Flavor was really rich and sweet, but not sickly. Fun to try, but certainly not an every day beer. Cruzan59 (197), Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA

Nut brown color, not much head. Plum, raisins, oxidation in the nose. Full-bodied. Very sweet with flat mouthfeel. Raisins! Yeah, sweet raisins dominate the flavor. Interesting and tasty, almost a bit portwine-like brew. Incredible dessert beer.
