Pours out deep red with thick fluffy head. Aroma is sweet malty alcohol with some raisins and, oh yeah, more alcohol. Taste is thick and malty, the alcohol really bites the tongue. I also get some brown sugar and lots of raisins. Goes down more like an aperitif than a beer and should probably be treated as such. If you feel you need a beer to get you out of a taste rut, this will knock you on your butt and the rut.

I thought this beer not quite as "extreme" as I’d expected and, honestly, feared. The mouthfeel was not a monumental challenge, and was thick but not syrupy. Flavor included lots of caramel malt which imparted a certain kind of molasses flavor, but also had a lot of fruitiness which reminded me not of raisins but of white grapes. In fact, I could have sworn that this beer had an injection of white grape juice.Pours a very dark brown color with no head. Aroma was rather grapey-fruity with plenty of alcohol esters. Not bad, but not great. It is certainly unique, but far less drinkable than Raison d’ Etre. Nonetheless, I would recommend giving it a try, if nothing else for novelty purposes and curiosity.

pours a very dark mahogany, very small tan head. Aroma is VERY malty, with some hints of brown sugar, and raisins with lots of alcohol. Flavour is again, super malty, with a hint of raisin. The alcohol is very present, its warms all the way down, a definite winte sipper. NOt a bad beer, but not great either, but no question, and extreme beer.

A great tasting beer. Dogfish head increased the flavor of the original and made it better, smells like brown sugar and raisons. Good taste, smooth going down.

Nice deep copper appearance, but very minimal head. Aroma is wonderful, a nice blend of malt with a very slight sweet raisin mixed in. Flavor wasn’t very tolerable due to the sweetness and raisin mixture. If you like raisin maybe this is the beer for you, but it made me sick, especially toward the end. Wasn’t bad enough that I couldn’t soldier through, though. Finished smooth. It was clear the quality level was high despite the fact that I couldn’t handle the taste.

Another great beer from Dogfish Head, Alcohol presence there, but hidden very well by the sweet taste of malt. Great beer, crushed my friend on his 21st

Sweet dried fruit and malty aroma. dark amber brown colors with a quickly dissipating head. flavor is quite sweet, honey raisins, roasted malt, dark bread, and brown sugar. Some alcohol and a bitter finish. Palate is rather light considering the slight sugary quality. bitter duration with an alcoholic presence and lingering heat in the stomach. Overall reasonably well balanced with some good flavor changes. Strong yet drinkable.
