12 oz. bottle. Pours a warm, amber brown with a thin, tan head. Aromas of raisin and other dried fruits. Flavors of caramel, coffee, raisin and warming alcohol. Although the beer is very sweet, there is a slightly dry and bitter finish. This is a great dessert beer (enjoying some brownies with it right now). It could be used in place of a port or red dessert wine.

Dark brown molasses color with a strong fruity aroma. Taste is not for the weak of heart. Super sweet taste. Doesn’t taste like any american strong ale I’ve ever tasted before. Must drink slowly!

murky brown / peach in colour. Full body with a thin soapy head. Raisins and ports are here. Wasn’t sure if it would be as strong as the WWS. It’s not, but close enough really. Can be a burden. The drink is malty and really needs more of the hops that dogfish is known to do so well. The crisp freshness is there though. Not bad.

rbsxg05, bottled. ruby coloured with no head to speak of. aroma of raisins, sugar cane, brandy, cream. luscious texture, decent hit of alcohol with a slight burn, tastes a bit like a strong eiswein. i think i would have liked this a lot more if i´d had it with some cake or cheese or a good cigar

12oz bottle via trade with MrBendo. Aroma: Big-time fruit (raisins, grapes, orange), peppery spice, and candi sugar. Some alcohol notes become more apparent as it warms. Appearance: Coppery red in color and clear. Light beige head was full and frothy, but didn’t last long. Nice lacing. Flavor: Very sweet, with a lot of fruit. Getting more grape than raisin. A noticeable orange note, too. Sweetness tastes of caramel and candi sugar. Malt is there, but overpowered by the sweetness. Alcohol isn’t hot in the mouth, but burns a bit going down. Sweetness lingers after the finish. Palate: Full bodied and creamy. Moderate carbonation. Strong alcohol warming over entire mouth. Overall: An interesting beer, but not my favorite. Too sweet with nothing to counterbalance it.

12 oz. bottle. I actually had to pour this down the drain after a few sips. It was incomprehensibly sweet, and I felt like I was drinking a whole bottle of Robotussin, which I have in fact done. Each offering was equally unenjoyable.

Pours deep amber with no head. Aroma of grape/raisin, Fruity. Tastes like a carbonated grape juice. Very sweet. Intresting. Nice.

the aroma is nice, but it isn’t quite as strong as I hoped. It’s fruity like grape juice, with a hint of caramel or brown sugar. The color is a deep amber/ruby and it produces no head, only a thin pale film of bubbles that disappears quickly. The flavor is fruity and gets more enjoyable as it warms, until a certain point where the warmth really shows the alcohol. Somewhere in between it’s just right. It’s got a typical DFH sweetness. Very fine to sit back and enjoy.
