(bottle from friend last summer) Aroma loaded with vanilla and caramel. I could easily take air hits off the glass for quite some time. Body color is sort of a combo between brown and ruby. Slight haze. While the aroma was something to enjoy, the flavor is something to die over!! Almost to the point of a weak cognac! (clearly the raisins coming out in the flavor. Lots of alcohol on the palate, but what do you expect for something with nearly 20%? This beer is what Triple Bock would like to aspire to!

750ml bottle. I’m surprised I haven’t rated this one before. Thanks to cornfield for sharing this one from 02. Aromas of rich malts, alcohol, raisins, and fruit. Brown red in color with a thin beige head. Alcohol is still big in the flavor but its not too hot. Cherries, dried fruits, caramel sweet matls. Alcohol and malt are in a nice state. The alcohol burn is still present in the finish. Interesting but still difficult to drink with that booze. Thanks carl!

Bottle at Ølbaren, 27-APR-2009. Orange, no head. I can tell the raisins since I know they are there. Very Barley wine’ish. Very sweet, high ABV, oily, low carbonation. So many great beers tonight! I may underrate this? Wonderfull beer.

355 ml bottle, shared with Roger and Asgeir U. Thanks, yngwie. Brown/copper color, moderate off-white head. Aroma is a lot of dried fruit. Flavor is dried fruit, hops, sweetness and much alcohol in the finish. Extreme.

2002 750 ml bottle shared by Egajdzis at the DFH vertical tasting of 1/27/07 in Rehoboth. Pours a mostly clear copper with strange floaty globules and a thinning diminishing head. Aroma is oxidized with tons of sherry already, toasted malts, sugary sweet toffee, molasses, brown sugar and lots of rum soaked fruits. As it warms the flavor gets more and more boozy and even more sherry oxidation is noticed- cherry pit, tons of stale molasses and brown sugar- old oxidized rum soaked fruits, old decaying autolyzed yeast, and a bit of burnt rubber. Alcohol burning comes through even more as it warms. Newer bottles like the 2005 and 2006 actually seemed to hold up much better than the more rare 750 ml bottle from 2002.

0.355 l bottle at Konttori, Tampere. Hazy brown color. Sweet thick raisiny and fruit liquer like aroma. Lots of raisins and dark sugar in flavor with warming and sharp alcohol as well as notes of meat broth (rosemary?). Surprisingly close to white port wine. Too sweet and boozy for me.
