Sweet smelling and sweet tasting but with a nice clean body and a suprisingly mellow alcohol presence. It (the alcohol) burns the throat though while warming the belly. The brew finishes warming and sweet. Allot of figs, raisins, sweet malt and alcohol flavours. To sweet for me but still drinkable. ajm (917), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 24, 2009 Bottle from trade with SoLan - glad you had pho, my man! Aroma is a thick dull grape skin and dark syrup. Color is that darkish red brown with no head that many aged beers have. Flavors are raisin, maple, hazelnut, and eventually a dry coffee. This bottle had some age on it, but boy was this pleasant. angrypirate06 (707), Texas, USA

Aroma of raisins, yeast, bread, plums. Flavor was yeast, raisins, prunes and dates. Nice warming alcohol. Great beer! robertjm (401), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | May 3, 2009 (bottle from friend last summer) Aroma loaded with vanilla and caramel. I could easily take air hits off the glass for quite some time. Body color is sort of a combo between brown and ruby. Slight haze. While the aroma was something to enjoy, the flavor is something to die over!! Almost to the point of a weak cognac! (clearly the raisins coming out in the flavor. Lots of alcohol on the palate, but what do you expect for something with nearly 20%? This beer is what Triple Bock would like to aspire to! holdenn (1440), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 2, 2009 750ml bottle. I’m surprised I haven’t rated this one before. Thanks to cornfield for sharing this one from 02. Aromas of rich malts, alcohol, raisins, and fruit. Brown red in color with a thin beige head. Alcohol is still big in the flavor but its not too hot. Cherries, dried fruits, caramel sweet matls. Alcohol and malt are in a nice state. The alcohol burn is still present in the finish. Interesting but still difficult to drink with that booze. Thanks carl! jesperhammer (290), Copenhagen, Denmark
